Fuel Dilution

One recommendation has been to use a cheap Fram air filter to allow better flowing. Change often.

RLI oils have been recently seen to serve as a good buffer against fuel dilution on a Audi RS4 with DI.
 
I think I read somewhere on here that PP (Pennz Plat) helps with the fuel dilution problem.. feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Common for fuel dilution??? Do a search for '+Honda' and '+V6' for the last 5 years in the UOA forum and see for yourself.

New Fram air filters flow worse than new K&N air filters of the same size. The test stand at Advance Auto Parts proved that to me.
 
After doing some review on fuel dilution (I drive a CX7 with DI which may be an oil diluter) it appears that RLI oils are especially good If you have that problem. I was looking for an easy to find Synthetic in a 5w30 weight and have decided on Pennzoil Platium which is an A1A5 rated oil. I would prefer Pennzoil Platium in the European version that is A3 rated but, very difficult to locate. Mazda says 5000 or 7500 OCI. When I get a 5,000 mile UOA done I will post it and decide on a plan.

I have seen the same test stand at the highperformance auto stores. They usually have a light Ping Pong ball floting in a tube to show the amount of air flow and 2 switchable filters (K+N, orange FRAM). I dont knwo who supplied the paper filter or whether it was coated with something clear, like hair spray or acrylic laquer paint, to restrict air flow. I doubt that a new paper filter would flow that poorly
 
Cheap AF does not resolve the issue in any way shape or form. The cheap air filter will help to keep things within reason, but it will not resolve the mechanics behind the fact that the Honda V6 seems to have issue with fuel dilution.
 
I wouldn't look to any special oil to combat fuel dilution. I would run a cheaper oil, and change it more frequently.

Yeah thats a good point.
 
I posted the following reply below in the UOA section on the most recent Havoline Dino. I believe both Buster and sxg6 are correct in more frequent changes, BUT, I would not use a cheap oil, I would use the best I could afford.

See below how much better my Double Super Secret PP held up to fuel dilution vs. Havoline Dino.

Vis 40C/100C (cSt) 43.3/7.6 41.3/7.53 for last two reported runs of Havoline .....

Here are the numbers Terry just got back to me on my 05 Honda Odyssey ..(UOA is NOT posted)...

Vis 40C/100C (cSt) 48.6/8.9

My run was almost exactly 5k ... my flash way low at 275 (sux)

The oil I'm using which holds up to the fuel and stays in grade? ..... Double Super Secret PP
