I wouldn't worry too much bout' it

I will run 6607 until I'm out of warranty b/c stealerships, after that 7317.

Ha!! Yeah. Well stated man. I agree 100% don't want to give those chickenheads anything to fuss about or not cover anything.

I use the long version filter under warranty anyway. I even put 0W40 in my engine specifying 5W30. If there's ever an engine issue, I suppose I can replace the filter and oil to specs before sending the car in. What could have gone wrong with that approach?

Again, do not give someone a chance to find a way to get out of covering your car. Futhermore it would be advisable to keep reciepts for the oil and filters bought in the maintainance of the car. This would be rather helpful. If one choose to run the non specified oil in it the receipts would prove that. And there the dealership would have a way of not covering something. Just not worth taking the chance on it. But thats just my thoughts on that

Then they would check if the oil filter was changed.

I still have the factory filter laying around. Hope I don't have to put it back on one day.

I'd return the filter.

Nothing like a $9 filter with a factory flaw.

I bought a Tough Guard for my Camry (cartridge style filter) that was twisted more than Chubby Checker.

Took it back to Walmart.

Not exactly a flaw other than a cosmetic machine mark. Two of the filters I have have this tiny dent/flat spot close to the can opening. I wouldn't worry about it.

I'll be running it when warranty is up, gives me enough time to dig any possible problems
