The only way the merger would work is if a dealership has the space to combine both Chrysler Jeep and Dodge with either a Chevy-Cadillac or Pontiac-Buick-GMC operation. Don't know where Hummer, Saab and Saturn would fit in. It would definitely reduce overhead but of course parts and service would have to be separate operations. But in the long run it would only make sense if the two brands share technology and platforms. But then, what would be the point? We don't need more versions of the same product under either name. We just need the best product possible, leveraging the brand names to their fullest.
