This filter looks great on paper. So much so I picked one up for my next oil change. Just wanted to see if there are any user experiences with this filter, good or bad..

I'm currently using one on my 2000 Century, and have another locked and loaded for my next oil change. From what I've seen and read about them they are very good filters. So far I have no complaints, and I got them for a good price.

i just bought one last week and plan to use it for my next oil change. i will leave it on for 15,000 miles and cut it open afterwards.

The Fram Ultra is in a league of its own when comparing to a OCOD. Completely different media and construction. Cardboard endcaps are not the same as metal endcaps. Cellulose media is not the same as a synthetic media. OCOD doesn't have the wire back element. OCOD=Junk..... Fram Ultra = Great filter

Using the Ultra on 2 different engines. Testing a re-use on the Camry. Currently has 11k on it. Will have a total of 14,500 at the end of 2 OCI's. So far, so good. No startup ticks on either engine.

I also use this same filter on my grandfathers 2000 Buick LeSabre which if I not mistaken all 2000 Buicks have the same engine, I also use them on my mothers 1997 Lexus ES300 which has 110,000+ miles and does not burn or leak a drop of oil. The only thing that bothers me about fram is they don't make an ultra for the 2nd gen small block chevy V8's for that they only make the PH30

Is the FUCOD a fully synthetic media filter? i don't think so its a blend correct?

The Xtended Guard was 2 ply and a screen. 97% @ 20, 10k. If both plys were synthetic I don't know. The Ultra is one thick synthetic ply and a screen. 99% @ 20. 15k.

Ok its the XG i must be thinking of not up on my frams.

Sounds like a dual layer blend to me???

Per FRAM wed site...

"•By adding microscopic synthetic fibers, small windows are created that trap the smaller dirt particles without affecting the flow of oil. Blending synthetic fibers with cellulose increases a filter’s dirt-trapping efficiency and its dirt-holding capacity for higher levels of engine protection and longer filter life."

Tonight will be a good test. Its going below 0F, the coldest since I started using the Ultra. If I hear anything will report it, I'm not a loyalist hehe.

Wonder is Jim Allen saved the media so he can verify peeling it apart. Will PM him. There is a user on here that works for Fram. I cant remember his user name. Will email or PM him so he can respond. Anybody know what it is?

Better get re-trained by FRAM if you want to be an effective mouthpiece
