This filter was used in a 1987 Nissan plow truck for 6 years. It was changed out for a OEM filter as seen in last picture.
No gap. It was cut with a razor to look at the screen. I was going to cut more off but it was quite tough. Was the gap in the pleats in #9 like that when you cut it open?
Right around 6,000 milesHow many miles on the Ultra?
I planned on leaving it on for longer, but figured it was time as its exposed to road salt.Looks like you got your money's worth out of that filter.
Thank you for the C&P!
5w30 SuperTech synthetic.Nice photos. What oil went back in? Filter looks good.
Yes VG30Rusty but trusty... Yeah, it was ready to be changed but you did get some lifespan out of this filter with time. Nissan Hardbody? Thanks!
I was hoping for 10, but this filter was in a highly corrosive environment a lot of road salt spray where I live.Thank you for the C&P!
Good, robust all American design and manufacturing . . . a credit to Fram. This reinforcers why I trust Fram for my filters. Six years & 6K is incredible on a working vehicle especially a plow truck.
Perhaps you could shorten the OCI time a little to say 5 years? ( a bit of humor!)
I've had to change a couple of OG XG3600s on the xB because they were starting to rust. Can thickness & paint were their ONLY weaknesses.I was hoping for 10, but this filter was in a highly corrosive environment a lot of road salt spray where I live.
Very similar to the rust spot ( 3rd picture down ) of the FRAM Ultra XG7317 w/ screen that was used on the '13 FIT . It was on for under a year and went through winter months with plenty of salt . Noticed it was leaking oil from the raised rust spot .This filter was used in a 1987 Nissan plow truck for 6 years.
