Oh dear ----, what have I become. Unfortunately, I have enough air filters to last me the next 3 years (Fram TG have been on sale around here). Maybe I will look into having people send me samples of various air filters for microscopic examination and post the results here.

I wonder how well light-microscopy will work on oil filter media?

I know there is Wix but what other brands are out there and good?

*Edit: I am going with Wix which I can get from Oreillys after reading some other threads here for the air filter but not sure if I can find a Wix for cabin filter down here in Texas.

Just installed a new Wix engine air filter and I can definitely feel a difference with better throttle response with the Wix then with the FRAM when I first put it on. I'm putting the Wix cabin filter on tomorrow.

I just switched out my mom's air filter (previously used a Fram) with a Wix (Napa ProSelect) and I notice no difference what-so-ever. I've also used a Wix (Napa Gold) in my Integra compared to a Toyo Roki OEM and a K&N and I honestly notice no difference among the group. Then again, I don't allow the filters to get too dirty before I change them, usually about 20-30k on the air filters and they're not too dirty.

Still feeling the same effect after what are hundreds more miles I've now put on this Wix filter. There are no bold, it's just how sensitive my car is to minute changes like air, oil et al and continues to be after even way way after the initial install.

And that's taking in the fact that I need an oil change an am running on 5k old oil(see below). continues to be after even way way after the initial install.
