Did it outside because it reeks like gas and the temp, with wind chill, here is about -3 currently. Didn’t spend too much time cutting it apart or wiping it off. Yes, it looks smooth in person as well.

If the parts were slathered with oil, it wouldn't really be a valid test. The parts need to be completely clean for that test.
Why I qualified my statement with "What I can see" and later "If so" Yes, it would be preferable see that area cleaned up first, but as that thought was previously posted, no need for me to repeat it.

Yeah I know ... I'm just making a general statement along your lines relative the the light test. IMO, not totally valid unless the parts are free of oil.
Wire backed media, so pleat spacing really not too important.
It's a half inch longer or so but the same price. If fitment is tight or it's not already flush with the undercarriage line if it screws downward it can be used. Works with the older camrys and corollas before they went to the cartridge for a while but I don't know about the new ones.
Probably cracked when that lip was formed ... another stamped metal part.
