FE 4967 off of my 2022 Camry 2.5L with 6,013 miles on this filter. Oil used was HPL premium plus. I am still waiting on uoa results from OAI; I anticipate the results tomorrow. This filter passed the flashlight test. There is a crack in one of the end caps (visible in one pic) and the pleat spacing isn’t great. I have another one of these filters and may end up using it.

Date code looks to be 1/30/2023 ... not the typical Fram format date code.

Should totally clean all oil off the parts before doing a "flashlight leak test" as oil will tend to fill small gaps and prevent any light from coming through. Leaf spring from what I can tell looks pretty smooth, but if all the oil was wiped off it would be easier to see.

Did it outside because it reeks like gas and the temp, with wind chill, here is about -3 currently. Didn’t spend too much time cutting it apart or wiping it off. Yes, it looks smooth in person as well.

Can someone interpret the results for some of us BITOG proletariat who aren't too sure what we're seeing? Did this fail the test or not?

Asking for a friend. :)

The bypass piece seal area does look much smoother and better than most. 'What I can see', looks like it did pass the light test. If so, that would make it like one in a row. ;) (j/k, kinda). Rest of the filter looks fine as one would/should expect at 6k mi.

Thanks for c&p..

What went in and on?

Thank You

Why I qualified my statement with "What I can see" and later "If so" Yes, it would be preferable see that area cleaned up first, but as that thought was previously posted, no need for me to repeat it.
Yeah I know ... I'm just making a general statement along your lines relative the the light test. IMO, not totally valid unless the parts are free of oil.

Not sure?
It's a half inch longer or so but the same price. If fitment is tight or it's not already flush with the undercarriage line if it screws downward it can be used. Works with the older camrys and corollas before they went to the cartridge for a while but I don't know about the new ones.

The filter is horizontal and sits above the plastic underbody cover. Based on what you’re describing, I’d assume it would fit as my hand fits on the end of the filter when removing it without issue.
