Check this out. Car spends all of first gear clearing its throat and then runs 212.9 in only 1/2 mile!!!

Kinda makes your wonder what it could have done if they'd cleared the plugs *first* and THEN made the speed run....

I've been to these events, and they make you sit there forever.

He's obviously tuned rich as can be, so even running poorly in first and an easy launch he runs 213 mph.

Wow!

I really liked the rear view when he changed into second and the big exhaust cloud disappeared into the distance.

It reminded me of the feeling of satisfaction you get when blowing a big snot ball out of your nose and you can breathe easily again!

Its interesting to see that on an EFI engine. My carb'd big-blocks need their pipes cleaned periodically if they've just been loafing around town for a while, and will put on a show like that when you do. But then the mixture isn't nearly as well-controlled with them. I guess its a function of the extra rich tune to get the kind of power that engine obviously has.

Is that faster than Heffner's 266 mph standing mile record? Comparatively? My god those Ford GT's can be tuned to go fast. Those kind of speeds would leave cars like Bugatti Veyrons in the dust. It'd be like a pinto racing a Corvette!
