For those that don't like "louvers"

Baldwin/Hastings is the only one that knows how to make louvers. They also have the most experience doing them, as they've been doing slots longer than anyone else.

They're made differently than other companies' slots.

Good to know, thank you

those do look very good! I admittedly am a little concerned about some louvers that don't appear to be open very much. do they restrict oil flow? likely not, but I can't help but have concerns....

The best louvers ever car51!, I used to use many Hastings filters but sorry to say the farm and home store quit carrying them they are identical to Baldwin.
TOTO.

Sure it does, quite a bit actually. Close all the louvers up and choke down the flow going through the center tube and guess what happens?

Yeah, car51 ... those are "model" louvers right there. If all the filter makers knew how to form louvers there wouldn't be any concerns. But we all know that some filters have totally messed up louvers.

If the louvers are closed, then they really, by definition, can't be called a louver, can they?

Excellent post, Adam. I am starting to like what I see with the Baldwins. I may have to just use Hastings/Baldwin exclusively as it seems these are the filters I have to worry about the least when it comes to quality control.

I see I can buy Baldwins here locally for $5.82 (B1402) and $8.21 (B1400). Both would work for my Infiniti.

These louvers are pretty closed up ... and they are still louvers. But they sure wouldn't flow very well IMO. Guess what happens when you make the center tube unable to flow well.

Yes, I paid just under $6 for the oversized B1402. It's really hard to justify any other options at double the price or more, isn't it?

That'd be me. I dont like "louvers".

I think they're called "louvres".

(Petrol isn't a gas, either.)
