Question:
My son just bought a 2014 F-150 with the 5.0L engine
Oil filter calls for a MC FL-500 or equivalent brand and size

Does anybody have any experience or know if an FL-820 will fit ???
Thanks

It will fit the engine if you have the space. FL500 has a bypass setting of 8 psi and the 820 has a 16 psi setting. Myself, I would stick with the 500. From what I have seen, the 820 seems to have a very sloppily assembled media.

We own a 2015, and I pay the $2-3 extra to use the FL500. I have a hard enough time getting the FL500 on as it is, so I stick with it. The FL500 also has much fewer complaints about build quality, media holes, etc than the FL820 has reported.

I used the 820 on my 2012 Ecoboost instead of the smaller 500. Just didn't know if there's room on the 5.0

He changed it today and used a Mobil 1 version of the MC 500

You can get the 500 for $3.xx from RA. Buy 5 or 6 at a time and shipping isn't so bad. I use Wix instead of the 500.

5.0 motor ?

Did a little research in the Ford parts catalog
My 2012 Ecoboost and my sons 2014 5.0L use the same oil filter mounting bracket and cooler. So there for an 820 style filter will fit.

I can't wait until they fix the year issue on the fl820s . It was my top choice of all time since I own many Ford using same filter . Right now I haven't find a filter that can replace the fl820s . Everything I use now is just for pass time . As soon they fix the tear isssue . I will go back asap

I've used a boat load of em myself and as far as I know I've never had an issue. Cut a few open lately and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Used a boat load but only cut open a few, that doesn't do much for anyone's comfort level.

My comfort level is just fine. I've logged 200-250K miles using MC filters on different Ford products. I'd say they did their job just fine
Merry Christmas !

I'm defend mc for many years . I ignore all the cut open for many years . So one day I random brought to work a used mc fl820s and cut my FIRST EVER oil filter . I saw a hole and the tear same spot most peoples here posting . That when I stop using it . I still try to find a alternative oil filter that have the same design as the fl820s . Adb valve on the top .

Same, I've used the FL-820S for 330,000+ miles on our 96 Crown Vic with no issues so no worries about it here either.
