$35 and no welding. A few reviews about incomplete stamping, but mine looks fine and is flat.

I actually called Dorman and asked if they had a pan with a drain for the 6l80e in my Sierra. They told me they don't make one for my application. I'd buy one in a heartbeat if they did. I like the location of the drain on the one you linked to.

I considered one of these but I just don't like the height of the drain portion inside the pan. The one I showed on my original post has nothing in the pan and should drain a lot more fluid out vs the one in your post.

I don't know what metal the pan is made of. Again, I'm not a welder. With that in mind would there be advantages, or disadvantages, if it was aluminum vs a steel pan?

I'll need someone to weld this on since I'm not a welder, hence the reason for my topic. How much do you it would cost for someone to weld this onto my pan? Hole will aready be drilled. Just welding it in place and nothing else. Where I live I'm a little limited in the number of welders around, at least the few who advertise. I'd like to get an idea of what to expect. Thanks.

That looks to be cast or malleable iron . Takes a pretty fare welder to do a good job with Iron . If the pan is sheet steal , might be beter ro braze it with brass rod .

Cast steel would be easier to weld .

If the pan is aluminum , all bets are off . I suppose if you weld for NASA , you might be able to pull it off ?

Best of lucl , :)

Bought one of those B&M things for my Focus. Leaked HORRIBLY until I wrapped the bolt in teflon and used a crush washer. Can't believe they sell these.

The seal ring that came with mine went in the bin … this has never leaked a drop …

If this is designed to be welded then it would be cast steel.

Yes …got a copper washer assortment pack on eBay … put one inside and one outside the pan …

Oh, and I get 4 quarts out instead of 5 quarts … but by the time the XG16 remote filter is changed … it’s close to 5 quarts …

Do yourself a favor. When you find a good welder chances are they will have a better piece of material to weld to your pan. A piece of round stock cut to about 3/8" thick would a better idea. Then you can drill and tap it for a normal drain plug that uses a crush gasket or o-ring.

My hope was to keep this as cheap as possible. But, that really is a good idea. I'm going to call a local welder that came up on a google search and see if they can give me an idea.
