The girlfriend and I will be making a trip to upstate SC tomorrow in the Accord. Its the first long trip we will be taking it on. I detailed it, topped off the tires to 35 all around, checked all fluids and filled up the tank with Shell. Anticlimactic post I know, just wanted to share!

Report back with the mpg you get

My wife just returned from Md, about a 400 miler on one tank of gas,and averaged 39 mpg. She seldom exceeds 65mph and even at home around town it gets 33-34 mpg regularly.

I just checked the forecast, it is going up from Fl through GA and SC but hopefully we will just see some rain and nothing more serious.

Will do Nick!

Enjoy your trip with your friend and drive safe. Be sure you have vehicle registration and proof of insurance in the car. Use the three second rule in determining follow distance.Try something like BonAmi on the windshield to get rid of that wiper chattering.

That was what I mean, with severe weather a good condition wiper is needed.

I took off my S2000's wipers 4-5 months ago because we don't have any chance of rain from May to October(earliest) in So Cal.

Is it that much of a hassle just leaving them on?

I wonder if he also tapes the switch so he doesn't accidentally scratch the windshield with the wiper arms.

The whole wiper blades and arms are taken off so no chance to damage anything.

The reason I remove the wipers is they seat fairly high on windshield, it partially block my view. Remove and/or reinstall take less than 1 minute per blade.

That's some really bad engineering if you have to remove the windshield wipers to see the road.

It didn't block the full view, somehow my eyes are attracted to it while looking ahead. Without the wiper I have much broader view.
