Depends on what it pertains to. In this case, not a chance. Please, don't let my lack of logic, reason, or science ruffle your feathers, AY?

My name is Dan, I've been a BITOGer for 3 years, 1 month, and 22 days, and I'm a Serial Oil Changer.

I guess I have turned into the opposite.

As the critic, I have been a BITOGer for 8+ years and vehicle maintenance is super-low on my priority list - I just stay with OE parts and fluids per the OEM interval. I am far more interested in diagnosing and fixing real issues with cars.

Right, but what probably turned the tables was the fact that there are just too many vehicles in the US that have run some form of a 20 weight for +300,000 miles, more than double the average of Europe and Australia.

Is this a USA fairy tale or or a fact backed with evidence? Any links you can provide to show when the table of facts was turned ?

Please note that I'm not suggesting that the average US vehicle runs twice as long as its European or Australian counterpart. However, it is a fact that in the US our vehicles do last the longest, for multiple reasons. What I was implying is that there are many Fords that have run some varint of 5W-20 and have +300,000 miles, which is more than double the average of Europeand Australia.

I run my 2008 Accent on 0w20 and 7500 mile OCI with the OEM filter. I'd go 10k but it's under warranty.

Half the replies here are from people that slept in a Holiday Inn Express. Do the math.

It's pretty close to double the average US car life too...
