I am not surprised. We've seen it all before. He doesn't have a 6-pack and act like an idiot...so he can't be "bad".

Fedor is one seriously skilled fighter. I would never count him out.

Nice, I remember Dan from his days in Japan. I can't believe people here think Brock Lesnar can knock out Fedor. Fedor is a COMPLETE fighter. He has a thick chin, I have seen him take punches and absorb them that many can't. People need to understand that fighters like Lesnar are so rigid that they are very easy to submit because they are more prone to pain. If you follow the history of sports, athletes that tend to get hurt the most are the ones with very low body fat. Fat is like sleeping on a pillow as to pure muscle is like sleeping on a brick. I have yet to see Brock Lesnar put anyone in a submission hold.

Fedor went where the money is, plain and simple. Not because he is afraid of Lesnar. He didn't leave WWE he was asked to leave because he simply sucked.

I will take Fedor any time. He is to MMA what a 5 tool player is to a baseball team.

A big +1000

People are so used to the Hollywood version of a fighter that they associate big muscles and nicely sculpted body with being athletic and having fighter's skill, when nothing could be further from the truth. Some comments here about Fedor being fat are just plain stupid.

Just look at Royce Gracie, he changed the face of MMA, you had this skinny, tall guy submitting guys left right and center, nobody could figure it out.

Fedor doesn't care how he looks, perhaps this gives him an advantage, as a lot of fighters will underestimate him, but every single fighter that fought Fedor will tell you that they never fought a guy like this before. He is a multidimensional fighter. Look at his fights, he will go from pounding to submission in a blink of an eye, and it all looks so fluid and natural, that one would think that it's all pre planned, but he changes his fighting style on the fly and that's what catches other fighters off guard, one moment they are defending Fedor's punches, and a second later he submits them because they left their arm extended while avoiding these punches.

And Fedor did not decline UFC offer because he was scared of Lesner. He didn't go to UFC because Dana White wanted Fedor all for himself, he wanted Fedor to quit the sambo figh champtionships in Russia, it's a national sport for them and really important for Fedor, he wasn't even making any money from sambo fighting so that's why he declined, plust he got more money elswhere.

This statement reminds me most of Fedor's fight with Choi. Fedor was on his back with 350 pounds of Choi sitting on him, throwing leather. To the uninitiated, you would think Fedor was getting his butt kicked. Then just as smooth and fast as a cobra, Fedor had Choi in an arm bar and it was all over.

Like several have said before, he always finds a way to win.

I agree 100%. The people who say otherwise are the "expert" fans but know nothing of the sport.

You're right, BuickGN, but don't forget that it's the fans who make it remotely possible for guys to get paid doing this. Most fans barely know a kimura from a front kick ( or how to spell it), and don't really care. They just enjoy watching. Can't be too hard on them.

I completely agree. That last comment of mine was aimed at a certain member on here.

I think we've talked about it before, but I can't remember what you trained in.

Mostly various forms of Kempo/ Kenpo, but since I started in 1980, I've also dabbled in Aikido, Arnis, and a couple of Jujutsu systems. These days, it's Ed Parker Kenpo stuff, and trying to get the SubLevel 4 Kenpo concepts from Dr. Ron Chap'el, but LA's a long way from Washington.
I'm too old and fragile for MMA!

Remember who said this Buick?

"Your need to follow me around just to disagree."

Don't be a hypocrite now.

And for you to call someone out as being an "expert" is outright hilarious.

I like watching MMA and I have my opinion. I've always thought Fedor is the best fighter there ever was, and that he's a bit chubby. So be it. You don't need to come off as some condescending know it all. Going to a bar where some fighters hang out after a fight hardly makes you an expert (more like a groupy).

Maybe I joked around with you too much in the beginning regarding your need for fashion advice on a motor oil forum, but you seem to think it's OK when Rampage does it to everyone else.

I used to be the designated uke (person who gets beaten and thrown around) for my instructor many years ago, and was treated to many various views of the walls and ceilings and floors. I can still break a fall, but have gotten old enough that it hurts, so I try to avoid it!

Ah, anybody remember the early days of "MMA" competition?

You want chubby, Here's chubby.

I guarantee Lesnar has AT LEAST 15-20% body fat. He is far from being cut/shredded/etc.

The big guy reminded me of Jabba the hut ... what a ridiculous monolith. Kudos to the smaller guy for fighting him though and I'm sure his hand either broken bones or was very sore after whacking his skull 50 times.

and from Wiki:
Quote:
Two years later, he [Keith Hackney] entered the UFC and gained his new nickname, "The Giant Killer", after defeating 616 pound sumo wrestler Emmanuel Yarborough. Hackney fractured his hand during the bout and was forced to withdraw from the tournament.

616lbs!
