Fedex is amazing, and that's not a good thing.

Well, to be fair and Im not defending Fed Ex but one needs to know the company you purchased from is using the cheapest, contract service FedEx offers to companies that also then transfers to the USPS for the "last mile" so its not a FedEx truck that will bring your package.
That is what "FedEx Smartpost"is. (AKA as FedEx ground economy)
Getting around to an update...

A purple Fed Ex truck delivered my shoes. Based on the tracking information it looks like Fed Ex had the USPS carry it across country via stage coach, only to transfer it back to Fed Ex for the final leg.

FWIW, but at least I now know Smartpost is USPS.

Lately my local guys just give up. It shows out for delivery, never arrives, and then just shows out for delivery the next day as if the first day never occurred.
AI baby!

And you thought AI was to help the consumer. Tracking is a joke. A game. The design? How can we make it seem like we are doing something. Lies.

Today, I just got certified mail, return receipt.

My heart was pounding as I opened it.

What’s ridiculous? The return receipt was still intact. Sender spent $8.69 and now they have no proof I got it.

As the song goes, sheriff couldn’t catch me, but his little girl sure wish he would.

ok ok.. so was the certified mail a subpoena to go to jail because the mail people didn't like you telling the truth about their service?? :ROFLMAO: the suspense is killin' me!

first time getting my package damaged and no communication between FedEx to autohance and I get a free case of Redline 0w30 and my money all refunded. I've never been given the "cake" and "eat it too" scenario. I should have ordered a 55 gallon drum of it 🤔🤣🤣. I have never had any issues with FedEx until this, but a two-week wait is paying off, sorta. As Grammy told me long time ago, "Blessed are those expect nothing for they will never be disappointed"

USPS offers a service called "Informed Delivery". Once you register for the service, it allows one to go to the USPS website, login, and it will show you a scanned image of what your mail carrier should be delivering to your house on that day, both letters and packages. It also provides tracking information for packages on their way to you.

It also shows you what mail of yours that the local post office either lost, or delivered to someone else. I'm still waiting for a piece of mail that was supposed to show up on Monday... that has yet to show up.

I don't like when things come via FedEx. Our local driver will fly down our road at 55-65 mph, (Speed limit = 35 mph) half the time with the bay door wide open because he forgot to latch it. About once a week, someone's posting in our local Facebook group asking for so and so because they found an unopened FedEx box on the side of the road with their name. We know many more than that which are found or dropped at the wrong address are never mentioned and the person keeps it for themselves. One woman put out a substantial reward for a package containing an irreplaceable family keepsake that never made it to her house, stuck on "out for delivery" for 3 days. She never received it.

Fedex delivered 2 of the 4 tires discount tire ordered for me on wednesday. There waiting for the other two - fedex says there out for delivery.

Manager at discount tire was kind enough to share the tracking so I can see where they are and reschedule my appointment, but since there is no tracking update since wednesday, I presume there lost. So now I have to convince Fedex to re-order them in a timely manner.

UPS is just as bad.

I know at work I ordered 9 Zebra devices for forklifts. Normally our orders are shipped LTL and palletized because they are hundreds of pounds. But the distributor sent these individually via FedEx. 8 arrived 1 lost. Luckily tracking showed no activity so distributor shipped another.

What would be depressing is to know the $ impact on our operation. Not being able to install on one vehicle for 2+ weeks, paying a vendor for another trip to install a single unit when they were on site to do 9, and then being down 1/9 forklifts.

I totally get that nobody cares, but it matters imho. Like my story where the certified return receipt, carrier didn’t even bother to release only when recipient signs. It should be 3 attempts, then held at post office. He just tossed it on our steps. What does he care that the town paid over $8 to send the notice to me.

On the printers, did you PP&A? We ship a lot of industrial instrumentation around. High dollar / low weight and pre-pandemic probably 99% of customers used their own Fed Ex / UPS account. The shippers have lost some expensive stuff but since it was there account it wasn't our problem. I find more and more customers using PP&A in the last year. I wonder if this is the reason - so if its lost its our fault?

As for the tires, I am told next week. For me its just inconvenient, My tires are still working but it would have been a good time for me to get them changed. Now I need to fit it in somewhere else.

Since we’re the buyers, we pay a business partner, who then orders etc. Its just that we’re large enough to have contacts at the mfg, distributor, and VAR. it goes along the lines of what someone here said, small world. My understanding is they don’t insure, so they likely get the minimum back, $100? On a $5,000 item. Not good, but they can spread it across everything they ship.

Our co ships to our own sites and we never insure. The cost is astronomical.

The most valuable packages I’ve shipped are in the $30k range and I gave up worrying. UPS doesn’t even come up to my floor, everything is left unattended in the lobby. I’ve never had anything lost, just unaccounted for 3-6 weeks. And I used to personally worry. My old boss said don’t worry. Ask yourself if there is plausible deniability.
