I had an installation case in the middle of MO yesterday. Nearly a 4 hour drive to get there, work on-site for 7 hours and then 4 hour drive home.

The drive down wasn't enjoyed as much as one might because it was still dark and the deer are moving, so I'd rather not meet one while trying to carve corners at 2x the recommended corner speeds.

However, on the way home, I took MO Hwy 19 from just above Eminence, MO to Salem, MO. It was still daylight, so let the fun begin!

GREAT ROAD. Lots of twisties and I only encountered two pickup trucks.

Had I known it was so much fun, I wouldn't have bypassed the portion of MO-19 between Eminence and County Hwy-D. That section between Eminence and just north of Gladden, MO is a fun stretch of road if you have a small car that you can press the attack in the corners.

Does anyone have any favorite roads, for whatever reason. I tend to like curvy roads as I like to carve corners. Others may have other favorites for a variety of reasons.

Who wants to share their favorites?

The route there wasn't bad either. I went down through Farmington, MO and then past Elephant Rock and Johnsons Shut-ins, down through Ellington and then west on MO 106 to my final destination.

Another favorite in that area is Hwy D going North out of Van Buren headed to Hwy 21.

There is one road, that runs up north of here through the mountains. It has some steep uphill, downhill, lots of high speed twisties. Hardly any traffic on that road too.. When I get home tonight I'll try to find the names.

Looking at Google Maps, that US211 does look like a good time

Deals Gap. US 129 Tennessee/N Carolina border...check out some of the youtube videos....heck it has its own websites!

I like the Northway running north from Lake George in NY to Mirror Lake/Lake Placid, NY. One of the most senic roads I've been on.

When I lived in MD, I often took those routes for enjoyment whenever traveling thru VA.

Hiko, NV to Lund, NV--Route 318. This is the road utilized by the Silver State Classic Challenge. If you like lots of 'nuthin' this is the place for you. John--Las Vegas.

I like the old Route 66 alignment between Ludlow and Needles, California. Not hilly and twisty, actually quite the opposite, but very pretty and VERY desolate, and there are a couple nearly deserted towns along the route.

That stretch of 211 is very fun and has become a popular destination of DC weekenders.

I live on a side road off of 211 and only about 10 miles east of Skyline Drive. Every weekend you can see car clubs, bike clubs, single exotics, etc heading for that stretch of road. With the extra traffic comes accidents. Every year, at least a couple people die on it (99.999% motorcyclists), and so the state keeps tightening down with new laws and enforcement. I believe the speed limit is now 25mph and there are several rumble strips placed strategically throughout.

If you ever get a chance to come out, it is a wonderful road to drive, and the scenery is up there with the best in the world. Just be cognizant of the fact that it is a dangerous road and often patrolled by the boys in blue.

There was a road out in Lancaster, PA (amish country) that had a narrow 1.5 lane road through the fields which was paved and all. The thing is, the road was basically dropped on the ground with very little leveling or anything like that. The speed limit is 25 or 35 I believe, and if you take it at around 40 or a little above, it is extremely fun. You bounce all around, fly out of your seat (no joke) due to the little "hills" and since the area is wide open, you can clearly watch for traffic as you are doing so.

I can't wait to go back! haha

We drove Hwy 7 in Arkansas in June of 2009. Didn't get to enjoy it as we were in the minivan. We dropped the kiddos at Kanakuk Kamps and spent the week mostly in Hot Springs, but traveled other places.

You are right, twisty and hilly. oilBabe asked me to slow down as she's not a fan of the twisty/hilly roads. At least not in the minivan

Charlotte Creek Rd in West Davenport, NY.

Nothing particularly remarkable about it, except they "forgot" to set a speed limit, so there were signs that read "State speed limit 55". Had a nice straight shot with telegraph poles proudly following the route. Movie "Fargo" had come out with a similar (to me) two lane road with power lines zipping by. Snow finished the illusion.

Alas in 1998 or so they dropped it to 40 MPH.

Hwy 2 Along the Southern shore of the UP from St Ignace to Naubinway. Known as the Lake Michigan Scenic Hwy.

Hwy 119 Along the Lake Michigan coast from Harbor Springs to Sturgeon Bay.

East Torch Lake Drive from Alden up to Eastport...occasional great views and great twisties. I've driven this road so much, I think I could do it in my sleep.

It's 35MPH on the east side of the mountain, 45MPH on the west side.

I rarely see any motorcycles when I go and I don't recall ever seeing any cops.

A lot of the DC traffic is headed to Skyline Drive. I remember seeing some people from DC stopped to watch a deer. You know what? I don't need to go that far to watch a deer on the side of the road!
