2007 Scion tC 2azfe engine
2079 Total Miles
2079 Oil Miles
Original Fill, Toyota 90915-10004 filter.

This tC is salvage build, front-end damage at 1300 miles. Sat in the lot for about 2-3 months before repaired.

I replaced this fill with PP 5w-20 and Purolator PL14477. Added 3oz of ARx.

I plan on driving until 5k and doing another UOA. If it is significantly better, I will change over to Amsoil 0w-20 and EaO, otherwise I will stick with PP for another 3-4K
Does it sound good?

Edit, woops, bad link

alot of break in wear. keep oci to 3k to get that stuff out. did you get a smokin deal from the salvage title?

I did get a great deal, since it will be my long term car, resale value is not of a big priority to me and my mechanic is very reputable / reasonable in this area.
I've checked some factory fill UOA's and my Silicon is the highest I've seen so far

look for a broken or cracked air filter box or intake tube from the crash

another high moly SM breakin oil used by car manuf.

I do not think it looks that bad for break-in. Heck some manufactures engines look like this for the first 50,000 miles of their life so do not worry about it. I would look for a leak in the intake tract as well. Look at the moly, boron and zink. If Toyota keeps this up we will all be jelious of their factory fill soon.
