I just browse the M1 website yesterday, and found the new M1 5w30 has VI 172 with 3.1 HTHS. If I am not mistaken, the last PDS I read didn't state the same number even though it is the same SN grade. Has M1 been reformulated again or my memory fails me ?

It wouldn't surprise me. Pennzoil has done the same thing.

The date on the PDS is December 2012, so it's possible that there was an update. The 5W-20 and 10w30 PDSes (among others) are dated April 2011, so it doesn't look like the entire line was modified. Maybe the 5w30 was changed slightly recently for some related to dexos1.

I just noticed the M1 High Mileage specs were updated January 2013. I don't know what they were before but the 5w30 & 10w30 are API rated SL while the 10W-40 is SN,SM & SL.
