Nice!

Here's the opposite end of the spectrum:

On the other hand, instead of laughing, the guys should have just walked down and helped her.

Well, in Nevada you only have to be an illegal alien and promise to vote as instructed. John--Las Vegas

Exactly. These videos confirm my viewpoint that this country should have annual driving competency testing of some sort.

In all honesty, that was technically some pretty good driving in the first video. It was highly illegal and very immoral to bump into the cars, but hey, it took some skill to get it done.

I agree though; everytime you get your license renewed, you should have to do a thorough driving test to include parallel parking, and the standards should be high.

Isn't that an acceptable parking behavior in New York? I've heard people do not put their cars in park for that reason.

Another reason to not park on the street in NY city. Even better one more reason not to live in NY city.

I'll never forget when I went to get my driver's license for the first time back in 1968. Went I got in line to take my driving part of the test, there was a woman attempting to parallel park her car...which was the first step in the driving test.

She parked the car at a 90 degree angle to the curb. The instructor asked her if she new what parallel meant. She said, " I guess not."....

She failed..

If someone did this where I live, they get a bat to the windshield and possibly a hospital stay. Must be a different set of driving etiquette there.

Yes, this is actually very common in very congested cities where parking spaces are at a premium. Probably less common in the US, very common in Europe, in places like Paris. Bumpers are for bumping, after all.

So True - I saw a lot of that during the years I spend in Germany - they ding and bump cars all the time trying to park. Expensive ones too.

I once saw a [censored]-off driver actually push a hesitant and confused elderly couple though an intersection in NYC. From what we gathered from the sidewalk, he was furious that the old folks weren't making a left when they had ample opportunity so he decided to give them some help. I was stunned but my friends thought it was hilarious.

Ah, NYC. It's not the place you see in the movies.

Actually around here I see little reason to parallel park. I haven't had to in quite a long while actually. Unless you go downtown and have to park on the street it really doesn't serve a purpose anymore.

Even so, it teaches someone the spacial dimensions of their vehicle and spacial awareness of other vehicles. Since I've had some jobs recently where I've had to do a bunch of parallel parking and backing up in tight spots, it's made me a much better driver overall.

The drivers in Paris need a space only 2 feet longer than their cars to make a parallel park without touching either car, front or rear.

I suppose it's all the unskilled out-of-towners that cause all these bumper scratches then.

Spacial dimensions? The woman in that 2nd video couldn't park a baseball in the ocean.
