Looking for experiences with them, +/- as compared with flush mounts, best brands, etc.

My better half, seeing me stick with my new skeet & sporting clays habit, surprised me w/ a Beretta 686 o/u in 12ga. I want another skeet choke.

Aside from the protecting the muzzle from nicks and whatever an extra .5-.75" of barrel does for you, any other advantages to the extended tubes?

Depends upon how good you are. If you're like me, it's a better barrel protector than shooting aid. After receiving some lessons from the local pro, I'd consider that money better spent than what I've wasted on gadgets. Anyhoo, got my extended chokes at a gun show for less than half what they go for new.
Hey, I didn't have to break em in either!

Does your Beretta have the Optima chokes? I'd stay with Beretta chokes. The Beretta skeet choke you have is a European choke, and is actually a spreader choke. Here's a link to the Beretta choke dimensions and what is available:

The only real advantage to the extended chokes is that they can be changed quickly without tools. This can be of value on a sporting clays course.

Oops, sorry about that long link. You'll have to copy and paste.

Ed, all, thanks for the replies. My shotgun has the mobilchokes. Currently I have the flush type European SK over a US SK. I will probably pick up a second Beretta SK tube and try that setup until I shoot it a lot more.

How's Reno? I do an annual boys trip there to hike in the Sierra's (Lakes region, Sierra Buttes) then offset all that healthy living w/ a few days in Reno for the Air Races....didn't make it out this Fall though. Usually a fun Time.

The combo you have sounds ideal. That's exactly what I would do. I don't shoot much skeet, but when I do I use the Euro skeet and cylinder. I use the skeet/improved cylinder combo on the sporting clays range 95% of the time. I select barrels depending if the first shot is going to be the closer or further one.

Reno is pretty much Reno.

All of Nevada has been hit hard by the housing issue. So far I've escaped any serious consequences, just wage freezes. I'll also likely work two years longer before retiring.

My former boss owns a house and 10 acres that backs up to the air race course directly across from pylon 7. We have a great BBQ and party in the back yard every year.
