Illinois in it's quest for ever more tax dollars eliminated a 20% rebate on a tax exemption at the wholesale level on ethanol for gas. The Illinois Petroleum Marketers Association predicts that many will drop ethanol gas if the straight stuff gets cheap enough at the wholesale level. The distributors will just buy tax credits to offset the Federal Mandate.

There are many ways to make a 93 AKI fuel. I think as a math exercise, you get a slightly higher octane bump using 10% ethanol to get 87 octane than you do making 91 or 93 octane.
