Mobil 0w40 might be golden on BITOG but a couple of us suggested it to be less than stellar for the 4.0 due to sky high iron ppm's in UOA's.
I agree with Miller88, the 4.0 would probably run 100k on used cooking oil without issues, but picking an optimum oil for it is fun.
What determines whether a 4.0 engine likes a given oil or not in your mind?
His experience here at BITOG, Don.
I agree with him. Mobil syns are historically higher in Fe wear numbers.
Two of my best UOA's on my 2.5L were on Delo SAE30 and GTX 10W40. Single digit wear numbers for BOTH seasons of uber-beaten trail runs and drives to get ice cream.
If memory serves, the best UOA here, in a 4.0L, was on Havoline 10W30 in the SL flavor.
