ECOGARD oil filters

I bought 10 of the standard spin-on Ecogard X4612's for my wife's Altima. The three I used (6,500 miles each) looked fine cut open. I gave the other 7 to the kid who bought that car from her back in April.

I put a standard cartridge Ecogard X5581 in the S60 she bought from her mother's estate. I'll have a good look at that next spring sometime. I'm confident that it will be fine.

Speaking of which, I'll be sending a freshly used one (along with about 8-10 new filters of various manufacture and sizes) and a couple used Fram Ultras and NAPA Golds to '53 Stude next week so hopefully next weekend is chock-full of filter pron! I think I bought all the m20x1.5 PrimeGuards, a couple different sized EcoGuards, a couple Bosch Premium (no D+ this time

) and maybe a few others.

BTW Adam PM me your postal stop again please

You think I'd write it down or enter it in my phone or something.... sheesh

OP, back OT... If you're looking to do inexpensive 5k OCIs, these will do just about as good as anything else near the price. If you're looking for loooong OCIs with no filter changes, stick to a Fram Ultra (1st pick) or a Wix XP/ NAPA Platinum (2nd pick).

Yup, standard version is fine for most regular oil changes.
The synthetic one (a synthetic blend media) is good for longer changes, and IMO is on par with a Mobil 1 or Fram Tough Guard.

I will use them when the price is right (ie cheaper than a Supertech for the standard, cheaper than an TG for the synthetic)

here are several I have cut open (4651 size for my F150)
New Ecogard
New synthetic Ecogard
Used Ecogard
Used synthetic Ecogard (pics gone, but there is a youtube vid of it).

I also used a cartridge style synthetic one in my mom's Saturn Vue, but traded it in before I could check it.

I have a MC FL500S to chop and a WL/SL 7503 off a Ford Focus to cut

I have cut open a new Ecogard X241 (regular) filter and it looked pretty good for a standard replacement filter. Nothing remarkable, nothing terrible, just decent. I would use it for up to 5k miles. Didn't take pictures of it, sorry. No experience with the synthetic variety.
