Hi there,

the Koleos is factory filled with DOT 4 ISO Class 6. Fitted with ESP, the service manual states that Class 6 MUST be used (Class 4 is OK without ESP).

I flushed the system with standard YACCO 70R DOT4+. Is that OK ? Specs :

Code:
KV -40°C 1400 mm2/s

Boiling point 265 °C

Seems that 265 °C corresponds to DOT4+ (DOT4 is 230 °C) but the KV won't fit (DOT4+ is 750 mm2/s max.)

I know the specs are there because reasons, but Aside from a temporary ESP dysfunction, do you think I risk something else?

What is a "Koleos?" Is that anything like a Yugo?

How cold does it get on Reunion Island?

You won't damage anything regardless, but the ESP/ABS/EBD will react slower

Cold... barely nowhere below 0 °C. That vehicle get 95% 15-35 °C. However a lot of variation during the day and high relative humidity. Lot of UV exposure too.

The workshop manual tells that if using wrong fluid, damage may occur. I guess this is more for putting DOT5 in there...

Been out for a test drive, brakes feels better than before now that the all new pads seated correctly.

Time will tell. I'll purge agzin as soon as the liquid turns from light yellow to orange. 1 or 2 years.

I'll keep it 1 year and see what happens

then flush again, test, and eventually go for 2 years if boiling point is keeping up.
