Does Delvac 1300 Super Really Perform Like a 10W-30 At Low Temps?

Oh cool, that is new. Well it still isn't a very impresive result. That would still be a pretty junky 10w.

It's still a 15w in my book. Would be cooler if they published results at -20 too.

It passed with no obvious damage. Don't do that at home kids! Test was run on Delvac Super 1300 (or was it S1200 then?)

When I knew nothing about cars or oil, while going to school in Rexburg, ID, I started up my '85 Honda Accord, filled with Pennzoil LL 15w40, at -20F on several occasions...

It still runs great!

Walmart carry's a Motorcraft CI-4 rated 10W30 oil. Make sure they say Diesel oil on them and have the CI-4 Rateing on back. THe regular Motorcraft 10W30 does not have the CI-4 raeing. I think it is around $1.42 a quart. This way you get a true 10W30 and HDEO additive package.

HD Diesel Guidelines for a 15w40:

Use of Heater Best Below 15&#176F

Use of Block Heater REQUIRED below -10&#176F.

Follow those rules even on Delvac 1300 and you should be fine.
It is better than most 15W for cold starting but worse than most 10W.
