So my 5.2 94 Ram 5sp cant go past 3k rpm's and it sounds really bad , so i figure its the cat . Turns out it was almost completly blocked.
So , i was wondering would a clogged exhaust have a adverse affect on oil , im thinking maybe a increase in insolubles beacause of the spent gases not leaving the combustion chamber.

any ideas ?

The increased blow-by would probably hasten the oxidation of the oil too. Why not just change the oil after the repairs?

Well, the oil thats in there now has less than 600 miles on it. I will probably end up changing the oil anyway.

Actually , the engine took a little longer to warm up and the operating temp was normal.

The cat must have been slowly closing off the exhaust flow over the years and you really dont notice it until the exhaust is so restrcted the the truck can hardly accelerate.
