It seems that whenever my son plays with these type of "games" http://pbskids.org/clifford/games/index_puppypuzzles.html, the other windows that i use ,when he's not playing on his window,seems to freeze and/or run a lot slower.I'm running xp Pro,1gb ram

1GB is usually good enough for XP. Sometimes it's the video card that's a bottleneck. What kind of video card do you have?
The integrated Intel Extreme Graphics on my old Dell notebook was just pathetic - some advertising banners on certain websites would slow the whole thing down to a crawl.

I would probably say it could be the browser itself, like if you're using Firefox or Opera and you're experiencing this, I would try IE 7 or 8. Reason being, almost all websites are designed to be run/viewed with IE. Some sites simply don't work with anything but IE. As much as I am not a fan of IE, it's there for a reason. Usually I have issues with banking websites with Mozilla vs. IE.
as for ads, yes, some of them can very easily be the culprit, and if they are, it means that they potentially are trying to take over. If you can get the website address, you can easily block the site out in IE by going to security and blocking the site.

A Dimension 2400 dates back to when I was a Dell tech putting it in the 2004-2005 era, I would imagine putting 2 GB of RAM (which is fairly cheap right now) into it would sharpen it up quite a bit.

If i stick an agp card with,say 256mb,will that make a diff and will the comp recognize it?
Those kids game sites can be quite java script heavy and the P4 2.4's are barely adequate for those games.
I have an old Mac tower, 733mhz, that's unusable with such games as the screen just crawls. I use it now as a coffee table (no joke).
My Kid's PC is a 3.2GHz P4 with 1.5GB RAM, even it feels slow sometimes with those kids game sites such as miniclip, etc.

Sounds like it is getting about time to retire that old Dell.
a typical pbsKIDS.org "game" hardly needs any graphics power, if at all. I think the issue is cpu not memory. so I'd suggest dont jump for a new graphics card just yet.
Something (antivirus ? some other program ?) could probably be hogging the cpu too. A little system maintenance and cleanup might be in order.

YES!
Your PC will recognize it, but it probably won't make a bit of difference with the online kids games. Check what you all have running in the background.

I would clear all temporary internet files/cookies, etc. Download and run Malwarebytes from Malwarebytes.org, make sure your version of Java is up to date, and run Windows Update. I don't think your problem is video card releated. How full is your hard drive also?

I run registry mechanic,turned off all possible services,delete as much as i can. hd is only around 25% used.
