again being out here in california i have alot of different ethnic foods to choose from and chinese food, especially Dim Sum is one of my favorates. im going to get some this morning with my dad.

The quality of Dim Sum varies SIGNIFICANTLY. Outside of the San Francisco Bay Area, I have found very few restaurants that serve edible Dim Sum in Northern California.

You should try some Vietnamese, its extremely tasty :D

There a hole in the wall place called Pho (Phu) on sunset

Just because it's Chinese it doesn't necessarily contain rat.

SF, which is south of Marin, isn't Northern California.

There are a lot of places around here in SF that have lots of dim sum shops. In the city there are a couple of areas which I call mini Chinatowns. If you are in the city and want some dim sum swing by Irving, Clement or Stockton street. I've been to Oakland Chinatown but don't have as large as variety. Some places serve dim sum with people pushing the cart around while others you mark the menu or order.

You don't say. Some day I will have to leave the house.

I forgot to mention there is this one place thats out away from the crowd. Good food, service and reasonably priced, its located out near the Ocean Beach on 45th and Balboa on the corner.

And what I call authentic dim sum places, you enjoy dim sum with tea which is in most cases complementary. Usually they have jasmine, chrysanthemum, green tea and they ask what tea you would like when they seat you.

It's hard finding good tasting and decently priced dim sum around here. I love char siu bao (roast pork bun), fried taro dumplings, and turnip cake. Last time I had dim sum was a year ago. Making my mouth water right now.

Vietnamese food is another favorite of mine. Except I don't like pho or actually any other soup dishes for that matter. Went back to Vietnam last year to visit relatives and I couldn't get enough of the street food. Could only stay for 2 weeks because of mom's job. If it were up to me I would have stayed the whole summer and got all the food that I wanted.

LOL! For PNW folks, check out north across the boarder (Vancouver, B.C.) where they have of the most ethnically-diverse city in the region.

Chinese (Northern/Southern cuisine), Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, etc. foods, you name it all.

Oh yeah: did I mention that Chinese food there is as authentic as it gets, so close that sometimes it even betters from where it's originated from?

Q.

p.s. alanu is in that area also so check him out whenever possible.
