Diesel additives by Lake Speed Jr.

I can't get Exxon/Mobil diesel near me, so I will keep using Hotshots EDT and convince myself I'm doing something good for my diesel.

Not sure why Lickity Split 10 speed videos are allowed to be posted but not Project Farm? At least PF says his videos are for entertainment purposes and DO NOT simulate an internal combustion engine testing, or complies with any ISO testing. Far cry from Lake Speed, who makes crazy statements and hasn't back them up with his "science." The fanboyism for this guy is unreal on this site.

Love the clickbait title cards and soy boy face on the videos. /s

The fix for reducing carbon build up and exhaust particulate is make a cleaner burning fuel. Then there wouldn't be a need for additional additives. But to me big oil doesn't want to spend the money to do so, just keep making the CEO and others at the top wealthy. Which is living the dream.

What could big oil do differently to make a cleaner burning fuel?

I’ve seen industry experts say the Diesel can vary widely, from region to region and refinery to refinery…with some using different levels of de-waxing to significantly change cetane while impacting additive abilities.

It would be great to know what’s what.

Premium Diesel needs more availability.

Decent video this time. Wish they would have done 128:1 vs 500:1 for the 2 stroke oil.

I do the same, though I’ve switched to Archoil now. My 3.0 duramax manual states to use an additive if top tier diesel isn’t available. Considering I don’t have a Costco within 50 miles I’ll continue with an additive.

ETA: I have Exxon available, but with my fuel rewards at Kroger I almost always have $1 off/gallon so an additive treatment every tank is a heckuva lot cheaper

People absolutely expect too much from dumping in a small bottle of additive in a large fuel tank.
I can't disagree. The Hotshots EDT that I use only calls for one ounce per 20 gallons of fuel. I've always wondered how so little could accomplish anything.

I’m just looking for a little cleaning, lubricity and a cetane boost. Maybe I’m expecting too much, but I don’t think so. It’s what I’d expect to get out of premium diesel if I could get it.

Hm...very weird concentration of 1:500 chosen for the TC-W3 .

Curious to see how these additives and the two oils performed in some Premium Diesel blends and in FAME-treated Diesel in various concentrations - would not be surprised if some strange interactions occured leading to some really modest (or nil or even negative) lubricity improvement .

I run Hot Shots EDT as well and was really surprised at how much difference it made. Very cost effective per dose, I happily run it. There's no premium diesel around here.
