In the US( in most states anyway )Squirrels have specific hunting seasons and you can't just go out and shoot them in the woods any time you want. However, if they are destroying your property and you shoot one( on your property - like as it is chewing into your roof or something )you aren't going to get into trouble for it.

To the best of my knowledge Chipmunks have no protected status and can legally be shot/killed if they are destroying your property. As with Squirrels though, even if they did, no one is going to get in trouble for dealing with a pest destroying their property. Wanton killing for no reason is different.

from my city,
Has a firearm or projectile weapon readily capable of lethal use on his person, while he is intoxicated, and handles or otherwise uses such firearm or projectile weapon in either a negligent or unlawful manner or discharges such firearm or projectile weapon unless acting in self-defense;

Did read where blood meal is a deterrent.

I'd suggest installing at least one owl house in a tree to show them they are welcome!

A neighbor of mine did this, Mr. Owl moved in and had a family. I'm currently rebuilding her old owl house.

I would, but wife is allergic to cats.

Cleared out the landscape around the foundation to make it less attractive for shelter.
The owl house is an great idea!

If that is your city ordinance on discharging firearms I read nothing there that would prohibit you from using a BB gun on a Chipmunk on your own property. That is talking about people using guns while intoxicated being illegal with the exception being use of one in self defense. So unless you are drunk when you try to shoot the Chipmunk and it attacks you I don't see how that applies?

true!! I found a .25 pellet sniper rifle. Clean shot out my back door. Got 3 of the buggers with a rat trap.
The ones on the side of the house harder to shoot, visible.

they love peanut butter. I did see a golf course uses propane and oxygen and a ignition source.

Jawz rat traps baited with peanut butter -- it's chipmunk crack.

I caught 14-1/2 of them so far this year. The half comes from some animal eating the part of the little bugger that was still outside the trap after it had been caught. When I went to reset the trap, the other half fell out.

I hate doing that, but like I said before, if they stayed away from the house, I could have lived with them. Now it's war...

Same here! Took out 5 now. I did find a new den, in my neighbors yard. I saw them scurry out of the damaged down spout at the corner of the house. The house is for sale, no one lives there.
is it right if I put put a trap by the hole or just put it on my side of the fence.

Thats what i have, two female cats. The keep the place picked clean of mice and vermin.

I need to encourage whatever left me a possum head and partial spine out there today to get the [censored] chipmunks.

I will be doing about 4-5 buckets with the sunflower seeds and peanut butter tomorrow.

I will drown, shoot, stomp, trap, kill everyone of the little annoying things.

Now that I can destroy chipmunks anyone have good ones for moles? Thats the problem in the back yard.......
