Dealership strikes again

Isn’t that something. Manual recommends one grade, dealer used another.

What are you going to do? I’d start by contacting them if you really think it’s a problem. I’m not sure anyone here on Bitog can help.

Which dealer is this? Please post the service report that shows what oil was used.

I had that happen in 2014 with our Hyundai Santa Fe. I have the 6 cyl engine and it required 5w30. The dealer put in 0 or 5W20. I asked why, and was told they only carried a single grade of oir for all Hyundais they sell. Since it was winter, I left it in, but specified 5w30 on future oil changes. They would go to their sister Nissan dealership next door and obtain what I needed. Later, service manager didn't want to accept my oil change discount coupons, so I changed to my current trusted mechanic who features 5Sw30 anyway.

I’m not afraid of the 5W30 as I told dad the 7 QTs is the concern I believe the telluride has the 7 QTs sump. This service was performed by ours truly Myrtle Beach Kia home of the $4,000 inflation package. I mean at least they justify for the $4000… pin-striping, Kia logo mats not vehicle fit, and nitrogen filled tires. Lol
That’s what you get for $4,000.

Dad took his new kia sportage for an oil change 5.5-6 Qts with filter. Wrung him for 7 Qts and filled with 5W30. Service manual says 0W20 acceptable for all weather my father asked why the 5W30 service advisor said we don’t stock anything else. 🤔
100% gave him an upgrade, In NO WAY would any Hyundai/Kia of mine or my family ever have any 20 weigh oil it then after the first OEM fill. With Hyundai/Kia badly designed engines and poor choice of engine component metallurgy, I myself want a far thicker oil film barrier then a 20 weight oil provides. I guess SO does that dealer, who is doing every own a very small micro favor.
