Video just uploaded. Watch and try to find out what killed it. The filter is full of metal
I think that was posted before - I did not finish it - a bit long …I'll watch this later, as I find the I Do Cars fellow entertaining ("malice in the combustion palace"), and there's a good possibility of a Pentastar in my future.
Did you find out what killed the engine? Typically it's thought that the Pentastar bottom end is pretty stout, but that the valve train can be problematic.I think that was posted before - I did not finish it - a bit long …
Not really - we all know they can have cam/lifter issues - but the short blocks last as long as anything out there …Did you find out what killed the engine? Typically it's thought that the Pentastar bottom end is pretty stout, but that the valve train can be problematic.
Pacificas are known for overheating the right cylinder head.Spoiler Alert:
He Figured blown head gasket on the back bank, fluid caused bent conn rod. Someone fixed the head gasket but the conn rod later went through the block. Said its an issue specific to Pacifica's.
So why would such a failure be specific to a chassis if this same engine is used everywhere - that part was curios to me?
Maybe. Seems like a complex series of events to diagnose from taking a blown engine apart. A conn rod for sure did go through the block either way.
You happen to know why vs a longitudinal install?Pacificas are known for overheating the right cylinder head.

I worry about the valve trains - but hey, I have AFM/DFM motors too - gonna buy what I want and take care of them - and personally know folks with allot of years, miles, and beatings - on these awful/awesome vehiclesDang it. Now there´s only 14,999,999 of these still running.

Good question - the presenter mentioned the Pacifica specifically, and said he did not see these engines failing in longitudinal applications (Durango, Charger, 300, Ram 1500, and probably more). You happen to know why vs a longitudinal install?
Yeah, there can be issues. I´ve just seen soooooo many 3.6 Pentastars with over 200k and a number of them with over 300k with no issues, so I really lose no sleep.I worry about the valve trains - but hey, I have AFM/DFM motors too - gonna buy what I want and take care of them - and personally know folks with allot of years, miles, and beatings - on these awful/awesome vehicles![]()
Yeah like candy bars.Dang it. Now there´s only 14,999,999 of these still running.
Another zero value post … going on ignore …Yeah like candy bars.
And not designed much better either.
Lots and lots of cheaply built lawn mower engines still running too. So what?
Guess everyone missed the Pine Hollow video about the huge back log for parts(that are messed up) for them as well.
Out of those 15M if that number is even true, how many have pooped out in the time I wrote this.![]()
I assume he eats a lot of bran, because he seems to dump a lot of uselessAnother zero value post … going on ignore …
I clean my engine bay like every week and things feel pretty nice and well built. I use interior detailing spray to keep things nice and shiny.Yeah like candy bars.
