Mine is from eBay^^^ There are lots of filter cutters like that one (Longacre style) on eBay for $20-$22 and you don't have to buy $25 or $35 or more to get free shipping like on Amazon.
Have you had any problems with it? Anything you think could be improved?I use a Longacre filter cutter
Have not had any issues. It cuts just about any filter I’ve foundHave you had any problems with it? Anything you think could be improved?
I would recommend paying the few* bucks extra to get one with a few extra blades, I can't seem to find the replacement blades anywhere. Maybe I'm using the wrong keywords* but I've not come back with anything so to me at least it seems like once the blade is too worn the cutter is basically junk.
Thank you for that!Try looking for replacement blades for a pipe or tubing cutter. They have to be using some fairly common off the shelf size.
If you can measure the one you have, then chose the matching cutting wheel.Thank you for that!
It was getting to the point where I thought I would need to buy a can opener to take the blade off one of them.
Do you hold the cutter and turn the filter, or do you hold the filter and turn the cutter?Have not had any issues. It cuts just about any filter I’ve found
Hold cutter and turn/rotate filter.Do you hold the cutter and turn the filter, or do you hold the filter and turn the cutter?
That's the way I do it too. Doesn't put stress on the cutter handle doing it that way if you hold the cutter body while turning the filter.Hold cutter and turn/rotate filter.
Long as you aren’t opening food cans BEFORE or AFTERI have used a manual can opener (yes from the kitchen). I position the cutting wheel above the lip on the oil filter and make a few trips around the base plate. It works surprisingly well!
You guys are all going to laugh, but this Longacre copy from AliExpress works just fine. Less than $20.I like it, but I'm wondering why they made the knurled wheel so thin.
Look at this Longacre, you see what I mean?
Probably China with a "Longacre" sticker on it.What's the country of origin for the Longacre cutter?
