I'm addicted to watching this game! It's very exciting to watch and looks like it's fun to play, too.

Are there places where you can walk in and play curling--like a bowling alley?

Right now I watching Yanks vs. Canucks.

Go Yanks, beat Canucks!

After both teams have delivered eight rocks, the team with the rock closest to the button is awarded one point for each of its own rocks that is closer than the opponent's closest rock. Rocks that are not in the house (further from the center than the outer edge of the 12-foot ring) do not score even if no opponent's rock is closer. A rock is considered in the house if any portion of its edge is over any portion of the 12-foot ring. Since the bottom of the rock is rounded, a rock just barely in the house will not have any actual contact with the ring, which will pass under the rounded edge of the stone, but it still counts.

From Wikipedia search "curling."

Curling is a fantastic sport!!!! I used to curl at the Granite Curling Club in Seattle for several years (the only dedicated club in the U.S. west of the Rockies!). Contrary to appearance, it's a quite active sport, that is, you get a lot of exercise. Especially when sweeping.

I have to admit, I'm a bit envious of Canada having SO many curling clubs! Someone told me a few years back that there's something like 28 clubs in the greater Vancouver area alone.

Again, curling is a blast.

We made fun of it at first, but now I'll miss it once these Olympics is over. Lotsa fun to watch.

It's kinda like a mix of the competition of darts and croquet.

Do they have "beer frames" in this sport?

Curling is especially interesting from a tribological aspect. If you like standing around in the cold, waiting to furiously sweep ice, then curling is for you. I've done it when I was like 13. It's better than bowling, fwiw.

I would think this sport would be a real hit in a state like Texas. Imagine sliding around on an ice sheet when the outside temps are 105-110.

I too find that I can't change the channel when the American curling team is playing. It seems like a mix of bowling, billiards and shuffleboard on ice. I think its neat that the team is a group of guys from one town, rather than all stars from around the country.

WE have been following it closely at work.. At first we thought, "What the **** is this?" And "How do they score" To sending E-mails out when the next match is going to be broadcast so we can all gather and watch,

Looks like a fun sport to do with Beer!

Although I haven't done it for 15 years, in my late teens I was in 2 leagues and played about 60 or 70 games in one season. It really is a fun and social sport. The nice thing is that people of all skill levels can enjoy the game. At its highest levels it can be a very emotional and passionate game requiring much skill and strategy.

I can't help you with the obtuse scoring - The participants in the curling games don't even know how to score - they leave it up to the judges.
Can't turn the channel when it's on, however.
