Well, I told my wife yesterday that when it gets to 120 bucks we are heading down to the Honda dealer to pick up a scooter to go to work with. Well, that day will be probably be this weekend. Heck, with a 125cc I think I can still get 60-70 mpg.

I'm cutting a hole in my floorboard and going Flintstones style! Maybe I could get sponsored by Nike...

Were getting so bubblish now with commodities that I think they're setting up for a dot.com burst sometime soon. Can't happen quick enough, but as long as the overall economy worsens along with corporate earnings, investors will keep pouring money into oil and other commodities.

Not from the looks of my local dealer's inventories on SUVs and trucks. They continue to sit month after month. I see the same vehicles on their web sites and on the lot they just move them around every few weeks. What's hot here is used economy cars with 2L engines and below. Dealer friend says they are hot at the auctions. My friend did say that he does a healthy business to Mexican migrant workers. He can't keep the 1500 dollar and under large pickups and vans in stock for that segment of the buying public.

I would actually love to go buy a new Pontiac G8 or a Dodge Challenger while they still exist, but my wife won't let me.

It would sit in my garage and I would drive it about 10 miles per week on the weekend, hunting out Prius owners to rev my engine at.

Just read that government now is predicting gas pump prices in the $4.00 range later this year as summer driving season heats up.

Even with prices running in the $3.50 range, roads are still clogged with traffic even after rush hour.

Wonder how high it will go before people start cutting back quite a bit?

Now that the warmer weather is here..the CBR is my commuting vehicle..yeah the HHR is getting me 31-33 mpg but the CBR gets in the mid 40's (depending how I ride I guess) If it wasn't 100 miles a day r/t I'd be taking the Ninja 250 60-70 mpg

My honest opinion is that it will take gas prices at double of what we have today (7 bucks+) before one can actually notice less vehicles on the roadway. For many, there are many other things in there life to cut back on like eating out, smoking, chewing, drinking, etc. Each one of us who are not independently rich will have to set priorities and make cutbacks where needed.

I still think that the scooter thing will catch on like wild fire in this country at some point. I mean, you can buy scooters 5-600cc that get 50+ mpg and that'll do 100 mph for around 6 grand. If one is commuting to work (not buying groceries or needing to haul anything) the scooter represents a great opportunity to minimize the effect of high gas prices.

Why can't OPEC just say their oil will costs 80 or 90 dollars a barrel? Everyone pays that price period. Keep the speculators and brokers out of it. News good or bad does not change the price as it does now. Demand does not change the price. It is what it is and fair for all.

(Maybe all these people who drive 4 wheel drive SUV's and Pick Ups for no good reason will get a clue)

I would sell my oil for as much as the buyers would pay. I wish people would worry about the taxes they pay.

and $35 would buy an ounce of gold. It now takes 25.9 times as much paper to buy an ounce of gold. If gas had stayed the same in proportion to gold, today it would be $5.44 a gallon.
