Ran this on the Giulia for a shorter OCI than I typically would and am still not too pleased with the findings.

ADBV was pliable and did it’s job well. This filter sat for about three weeks prior to dissecting and it still held a few ounces. It also had no tears or cuts like we’ve seen in some others.

Regarding the filter media, there were no tears and with the exception of the seam, it was evenly spaced. However, it almost looks like the seam was starting to come undone, I’ll let more experienced members make that determination.

Hard to say in the photo. You would have to carefully try to separate the seam with a dental pick, toothpick or similar to see if the seam is actually separating or separated.

As long as it wasn’t torn at the base, or split down the middle, it was OK. Mann/Purolator has been building that design for quite a while now, almost all the QS filters I’ve seen are built like that, and the metal crimped ones seem more tear prone (at the base) when they bend like yours did.

Okay but yeah not real inspiring.

Hows that wonderful car doing? Is it still in warranty?

Not trying to get in your business just curious as I still dream of Alfa Romeos daily lol.

Car is doing great! Yes, still under warranty. Have another 7k miles/7 months remaining on it.
What the heck is on the bottom end plate, is that glue or sludge?
Weird right!? It seemed like built up fibrous material like the longer strand that I had on my thumb.

Nice!

How are you dealing with the resets when you change your own oil?
I’m not resetting the light since the dealer charges $80, if I recall correctly, to do it.

The one in the dash (if it comes on) can be reset with the accelerator pedal, so no biggie there.

The one in the infotainment screen is a simple countdown clock. If you don’t reset it (this is the one that can’t be done without PCM access) it simply states something along the lines of “Maintenance Interval Reached” when on the maintenance screen.
