That looks to be the 1000, I don't think we got the 1000 in the naked variety.

Correction, looks like we did get the naked SV1000.

If I were in the market for something radical like this, I'd go for a new V-Max...

Isn't it great to have choices?

Also is a "Strada" Diaval.

its hard for me to get out of the rocket mindset, when youve spent yur entire motorcycling career on Rockets you become acclimated to the power.

anyone want to sing the praises of something they might want to point me towards ?

How about the liter+ sportbikes?

I've been riding my current bike, a hopped-up and lightened Hayabusa, for over ten years now. Mine is set-up to handle with the forks re-sprung, and the valving modified, along with some work on the shock. The brakes also got attention for better feel, power, and fade resistance.

It's not much heavier now, than a current R1. But it is much more comfortable for long days in the saddle. And has a lot more power than a current stock liter bike.

A new one which gets Brembo calipers, and ABS for 2013, might be a good option. Or a used one for less money, and incredible aftermarket support.

There's also the ZX-14R, which is the current horsepower king in stock form. It's engine is a little smoother-running than the 'Busa engine, due to the 14's dual engine balancers. It has a slightly roomier feel vs the 'Busa. But, it is more of a pain to work on, because of it's monocoque frame. There's also less aftermarket support for the 14 than the 'Busa.

Think of them as heavier, but more comfortable sportbikes, with tremendous power under the curve. So you don't need to downshift and run them up towards redline, to get them to go.

CB1000RA should do the trick.

I'm sure these new fangled bikes are better all-around function wise, but man there sure are some funky looking things out there now. I really don't like what they're doing with the factory exhaust systems...most of them are so ugly I swear they're doing it purposely to get you to buy aftermarket systems...it also looks like they're taking their styling cues from the Yamaha Raptor...everything has that "transformer" look to it...I don't mind modernizing the looks a bit, but did they have to completely do away with some of more clean lines look? Why does everything have to be so radical looking?

Whenever the money tree blooms again, I'm thinking of getting a CB1000R or a FZ8 or mebbe some other naked inline 4, but I'm still keeping my SV650!

I use an FJR. It's an incredible motorcycle. I'm going to have it for years and years, I expect. It has really good range, comfort enough to be able to take advantage of that range & is the closest that I will be able to get to a Saturn V. I have had enough with chains for one lifetime so those are in the rear view mirror. A centre-stand is great. I can't recall the last time that I got wet riding in the rain. I like that it uses standard automotive filters & has no issue with Rotella oils. Adjustable wind screen is appreciated. It doesn't generate an excess of current unfortunately (electric clothes) and some people rag on it's heat output. I have never been bothered by its engine heat but I adhere to the ATGATT school of motorcycling, so that might explain it. With a purpose-engineered back rest that I sourced, passengers don't complain.

A set of CF D&D pipes shed some psychological weight but they allow me to appreciate the really good noises that the engine is capable of providing. I like that. It's a great commuter with the saddle bags but most times I just use an expanding tank bag - unlike a lot of bikes with integrated bags, the FJR looks as good with 'em as without. Oh, it runs regular fuel as well!

Beemers are interesting & I'm sure that I would love running one but after using the Feejer, I am happy not to have paid that premium. Should it get stolen or broken, I would buy another.

The 109 gets a bad rap from the mags about it's handling. I've ridden most of the big cubic inch vtwin cruisers out there and the 109 handles at least well as any of them, and better than most. I think a lot of people pre-judge the 109 and automatically think it can't handle well because of its wide rear tire. They are wrong. It doesn't handle like a crotchrocket, or even a sport tourer, but none of the vtwin cruisers do. If you want that type of handling, you don't want a vtwin cruiser, but I think once you get the feel of the bike you'll find it handles quite well. I'd suggest a test ride...twisting the right grip on this beast is addictive!

I rode with a biker who had a M109 and he took the curves more than I could handle, for handling, I would say from what I saw of him handle the M109, it handled very well.

If it's primarily for single rider.

I'd go ZX14, Ninja 1000, FZ1

If you want to two-up

Concours14, BMW K1300S

although the ZX14 is a capable 2 up machine as well. If I were rich, I'd have one of everything lol
