Hyundai actually issued a TSB to only use OEM filters. PG issued their own to cover themselves.Do we know if Carquest Premium issues for Hyundai / Kia engines has been resolved - or was that just with the Premium Guard brand oil filters ?

Yes, all the Asian filters with this basic construction have a pretty large glue seam around the center tube on the dome end. Nothing to worry about because that glue is stuck on very well. It's hard to even chip it off purposely.Just received the Pentius PLXL7317 - inspection looks good for the most part, but is this amount of glue at the bottom normal for these?
Honestly, over the years there's been so many warnings from Hyun/Kia and some of the aftermarkets posted on the sub-forum, tough to keep up with them all. I think 'some' of the makers may have chosen to not recommend/list thier 9688 equivalent filters for Hyun/Kia applications. Just not worth the risk of them being blamed. But, don't quote me on that. I don't recall a specific CQ Prem. issue or warning on the current CQ 85344 for Hyun/Kia. It's been 'my opinion' for a long time that any issue is with the Hyun/Kia engine oiling system and aftermarket oil filters generally, just an easy target when problems have occurred.Do we know if Carquest Premium issues for Hyundai / Kia engines has been resolved - or was that just with the Premium Guard brand oil filters ?

How do you tell its the new version Mobil 1 filter? Can you get these at Walmart?Carquest or the new revision M1.

Hmmmmm.....never heard of these! Are they tested to where we can see how they truly perform?
So holes in the center tube instead of louvers? Is Mann Hummel making them still? And they are tested better filtration and flow then the old version? Thanks!says Korea or Vietnam and holes in the core... yes walmart

Per an email back and forth with Highine Warren, the new Mobil 1 filter is made to the same specs as the previous M+H version. So that means it has the same efficiency (told it's actually the same 99% @ 30u like the old M+H made Mobil filter was) and still rated for up to 20K miles. I'm sure it flows just as well - meaning the dP vs flow performance is basically the same. No oil filter is really very "flow restrictive" in the big scheme of an oiling system. At a flow rate of say 8-10 GPM, a few +/- PSI of dP difference between filters isn't going to matter to a PD oil pump force feeding an oiling system. So holes in the center tube instead of louvers? You can get them at Walmart, but the part numbers I use are cheaper at Rural King. How do you tell its the new version Mobil 1 filter? Can you get these at Walmart?
Not to thread jack but higher pressure DI engines are probably more prone to rupturing an oil filter versus a MFI engine . So far , no issues in my Hyundai 2.4L GDI engine with Carquest Premium , Fram Ultra or Fram Endurance . Hyundai oil filters offer a tough construction but filtering media is average at best .Honestly, over the years there's been so many warnings from Hyun/Kia and some of the aftermarkets posted on the sub-forum, tough to keep up with them all. All that said, as the OP's vehicle a Honda, wouldn't be a factor/consideration for use of the CQ Premium 84356. Lastly, another 15% off (no minimum) code popped up for those interested. It's CAPONEAAP.
Here’s a c&p I did.Hmmmmm.....never heard of these! Are they tested to where we can see how they truly perform?
DI engines have higher oil pressure than non-DI engines? Why would that be the case? Never heard this claim before. Data source? Not to thread jack but higher pressure DI engines are probably more prone to rupturing an oil filter versus a MFI engine .
No exact source - just trying to figure out the failure reason for certain oil filters and Hyundai engines ? I do know that the DI engine compression jumped up to 13:1 (10:1 before) but not sure that in itself was the cause of certain oil filter failures with Hyundai engines ?DI engines have higher oil pressure than non-DI engines? Engine compression and if it's DI or not should have no bearing on what the max oil pressure should be for the oiling system. If there are reasons, I'd like to see an official technical source saying so and why.No exact source - just trying to figure out the failure reason for certain oil filters and Hyundai engines ? The first change I noticed is that now the business end of the filter is wrapped in plastic. Carquest does the same thing, I'm certainly on board with the practice. How do you tell its the new version Mobil 1 filter? Can you get these at Walmart?
