I reformatted my Canon camera compact flash card and now I have problems.

The card works fine in the camera and with a USB cord to the computer.

When I reboot the computer, plug the card into the computer's "H" drive slot, it recognizes it and works. If I remove the card and reinstall it, the computer cannot find it. Reboot the computer, and the cycle repeats....it works, then doesn't.

Did the card reformatting screw up the card? Anyone know of a fix? I tried reformatting both with the computer and in the camera. No luck.

Is it possible it's always been behaving this way but you never noticed?

Does the same thing happen with other compact flash cards or only with this particular one?

To me it sounds like possibly a driver issue on the PC. What operating system are you using? Do you have the latest driver installed for your card reader (H: drive)?

Try using it on another computer and see if the same symptom appears. Like Quattro Pete said, I think it sounds like something is wrong with that computer rather than the card.
