I have a problem with our society today. The Bro Truck. It's a double cab full size 4x4 truck that is lifted and has upgraded wheels and tires. We have all seen them. I see them far too often just carrying one guy that clearly works in an office somewhere. He's just putting down the freeway, often right there with me for 15-30 miles.

Why do so many people commute in a Bro Truck?

I understand owning a nice full size pickup but do you really have to literally drive it everywhere? You can afford a new King Ranch or High Country or Denali pickup and thousands of dollars of lift kit and wheels but you can't get a reasonable second car to commute in?

It makes literally no sense at all. You spend huge money depreciating your truck and the gas and tires.

If they get in an accident, the bro truck usually wins.

One of my customers runs in the SCORE races. He has brought his race truck in sometimes, its pretty cool. Looks like a bro truck, but it can back it up.

I see it too. I look at it this way, this is America and if the person wanted it, and can afford it, that's his/her right.

Couldn't the same be said for most SUVs? Even the newest SUVs with "fuel saving technology" (like my jeep) get pretty horrible fuel economy in traffic. And I see tons of people driving SUVs to and from work. I use mine mostly for getting to biking/hiking trails and in bad weather, but I could probably get away with something quite a bit smaller as well.

Exactly!

Why do you care?

Why is it any of your business what others choose to drive?

When you're King, you can dictate what is acceptable for others to drive..

Thanks. The same can be said about the houses we live in, our clothes, shoes, watches, our jewelry, the tools we own, guns, the TV's we watch, the appliances we own, and on and on and on.....

+1, I get dirty looks when I drive my Mustang. There is a lady that will stop on her bike when I start it almost every morning and squeeze her nose and shake her head. She has a Prius so my car is better on the environment than hers ever will be.

BTW looked like you guys had great weather in Vegas. FS1 is doing a great job in their coverage.

It's nice to live in a Country where we can do what we want when we want and not have to answer to anyone.

Agreed

Personally I'd LOVE a Ford Flex. Fantastic reviews, awesome features and a design that compliments my BMW

Downside is I just can't justify when 90% of my driving is to the office and even in the Focus I get really lonely. Honestly, there's a handful of times per year when my gf and i have people in the backseat but the majority of times it's just me in the car.

I sympathize.

But in America, as long as you want it, you can have it. Never mind about being able to afford it or it being legal, as long as you want it, Americans think it's a "right"

I could care less if someone drove a tri-axle dump truck to and from work.

I do care when they intentionally bully other drivers by cutting them off, run red lights knowing you (in the smaller vehicle) will stop, and roll "coal" everywhere.

Bro-trucks have become a big problem around here, not because of the fact that they are large vehicles, but the idiots driving them who destroy property. Some of the kids who own them intentionally drive over small islands, curbs, wooden posts, etc because they can. There is a local business that has a small front lawn near an intersection. There are constantly bro-trucks driving through his lawn so they can get around the traffic and turn right.

I don't care if they have a 36 inch lift and 52 inch tires, as long as they're not rolling coal in front of me. Let them stimulate the economy.

Well comrade, I think you should dictate to everyone what type of vehicle they should drive. And while you're at it, you should dictate their clothing choices, which panelak they can live in, etc.

As long as they pay for it (or understand the consequences of leasing it) the vehicle they drive is their business. Some people simply choose not to spend their time in the "people's car".

What I don't understand are the huge lifted trucks that will creeeeep over a speed bump or VERY slowly enter a parking lot at an angle. It's not like it's going to bottom out or something haha.

I care because they take perfectly good trucks and ruin them with the giant lift kits and monster tires just to drive around the city and interstates to work everyday. If they want to drive around in a stock truck or SUV i wouldn't care.

They take the most useful vehicles on earth and render them useless. The mods take the fuel economy from reasonable down to abysmal.

I just think they are idiots. But i do respect their right / decision to be an idiot driving a Bro trucks.

No disrespect for anyone that drives a sensible truck in situations that make sense to use a truck.
