In Amsterdam at the beautiful Okura hotel last week.

This monster Nespresso "zenius" took up half a corner and seems overkill for a hotel room.

The coffee is ok, it makes a decent cup, but I dont like the thought of aluminum in my coffee.

Wow, another format!! Crazy.

You can be assured very little Al makes it to your cup. I do worry about plastics more, frankly.

Same fufu coffee.

Ok, I look at my wife and I as bargain hunters in coffee beans. It wasnt always this way even two years ago but the coffee we buy has increased 100% since.
We used to be able to buy "Gold" Kanola Blend coffee 2 - 2LB bags for $30, then started going up buying direct and on Amazon. Now two bags is $57.95 ... no longer for us.

We have been on the hunt (and it's been fun) trying different lower (and on sale) coffee beans.
When we like one we buy a lot. A while back we liked Amazons Dark Roast but have become near impossible to buy recently. Again, we would buy 2 - 2 lb bags.

Anyway, we scored these two at Costco to try out. Both were on sale when purchased.
The " Kirkland Organic Whole Bean" was definitely more mild than the dark roasts we buy, I would say Medium is correct. Beans are brown and dry. I kind of liked it for a change, felt smooth enough, wife didnt like it at all. Which surprised me as I like my coffee dark and she complains sometimes *LOL*

Ok, on to the "Organic Cubano Roast" Powerful stuff, dark and smooth to us. Surprisingly my wife likes it and it brews a strong cup however she says it is a smooth strong. I am in shock because even though I like it, I brewed a strong pot this morning. I guess you could save more by using less coffee for something more medium if that is your preference.

Beans are "wet" and dark coming out of the bag. It's a keeper! On sale at Costco for the month of Sept 2025. It comes out to $8.75lb - 2 lb bags and is sold 2 - 2 lb bags = 4lbs in an online order.

The bag we got a couple weeks back are "use buy 8-28-26 so I am ordering another 8 Lbs when I finish this post which is 2 boxes. Each box contains 2 - 2lb bags. So my cost for Sept 2025 at Costco is 2 boxes (8lbs of coffee) for $69.98 (Cubano Roast)

Have had the Mayorga Cuba roast many times. It's good and the local Costco seems to always stock it. Still, the Kirkland Signature Colombian Supremo is the go-to, the House Blend is excellent.
I'm not buying the silly explanations for the price increases. It's money grabbing and nothing else.
