I do have to hand it to Chrysler my wifes uncle has a 2001 Dodge Ram with the Offroad package and for the longest time had this clunking noise everytime he made a turn. They started with the basics then changed the power steering pump and pretty much rebuilt the front end and all it was was a loose bolt from the skid plate. All this didnt even cost him a dime.

hand what to them and why? sounds like they are incompetent to me.

As much as I honestly like the Chrysler designs, I know that most folks will likely use this coverage to replace a dead transmission in under 100K.

Its sad that decent(IMO) vehicles are being dragged through the mud over the lingering transmission problems. Everyone I have know that has or had a ChryCo product has had a transmission failure or malfunction, myself included.Used vehicles and new ones. Guy I used to work for had a very nice new Grand Caravan Sport(2003) and he loved that thing. Drove very well but it had 2 or 3 issues with solenoids and one instance where the pan filled with friction material. All under 50K. Didnt driving it hard either.

Running joke around here is buying a dodge is deciding how much you enjoy hanging out with the guys at your local transmission shop.

Ive never had trouble with any transmissions in the Dodge trucks I owned, 1987 Dodge Dakota and a 1994 Dodge Ram, both over a 100,000 miles. Alot of people dont know you have to adjust the clutchs every 25,000 when you change the fluid. If you buy a service manual it tells you how. Its a easy task with the pan off. I credit doing this every 25,000 miles my good luck with mine.

I still havent got my warranty in the mail, Ill call Tuesday and ask them to remail it. This drivetrain lifetime warranty does cover parts wearing out, I hope. That may be the loop.

Adjust the bands every 25,000 miles? Doggone! I guess that's a reason why the transmissions don't last...not many people are going to pay to have that done. Fewer that would do that themselves.

Adjusting the bands is not a hard procedure. Theres two adjustment screws, one is easy the other is hard to get to. All it is, is a screw with a locknut. loosen the locknut, turn it in till snug, then back it out so many turns, depending on the transmission you have. It made a noticable difference how it shifted after adjustment much crisper. I did the one in the pan myself, I took it too a transmission shop to get the band on top of the transmission adjusted and he charged me $15.00 to adjust it, it took like 15 minutes but the truck had to cool down.

Still wouldn't buy a Chrysler, especially with the ex Home Depot ceo running it .Home Depot all sell is over priced low quality stuff . Chrysler can only go lower than it has been with this guy .

Some customers do a used oil analysis on the engine and transmission few months before the end of warranty. It doesn't need to breakdown to be a warranty claim, although most service managers will think that way. If the UOA looks bad, you have a claim.

This was on a 1994 Dodge ram, I think the trucks with Dodge transmissions still need adjusted, the newer trucks with the Mercedes transmissions are no doubt different. I still havent got my warranty information yet, I called last night to find out why, the girl told me they are taking up to 4 weeks to get out the warranty because, get this, they are not sure how to word it yet. That made me feel good.

I think it's pretty lame that Chrysler will not warranty its high performance models with the same warranty. I would think this will hurt the SRT sales since GM can manage 100k on Corvette, GTO, Caddy V's...

The same people that get hold of Chargers and Mustangs arent the people that get hold of corvettes and Caddys. But I see your point. Iam sure it has alot to do with weekend racers, or it may stem to the point that they can sell warranties on these models. I think on a PR aspect that they should offer it simply because the people that buy these cars dont keep them forever and half of them get wrecked.
