I'm not normally a Pro Military type, but I do disagree with Loobed.

A sniper kills just the same as a bomber pilot or an officer that gives an order that results in people being killed.
Not nice, but at times it HAS TO BE DONE!

In fact, a sniper kills a selected, target without collateral damage.
I imagine, by it's nature, being 'up close an personal' through a scope, it's not a job for everyone (not that 'anyone' has the skill required)
Are they Heroes? I don't know.
Are they necessary? unfortunately, Yes.

Why are you trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill? There is no conspiracy here. Being a sniper has nothing to do with the two of them taking a guy with PTSD to a gun range. Kyle wasn't "targeted".

I hope I'm wrong, but if this ex Marine had PTSD and some demented form of jealousy against this sniper with illustrious military career.

I do believe this Marine took satisfaction in killing the sniper do to his attention in the military , media, press, book that was written....etc.

Why didn't he kill two random people off the street ???

I doubt that he took any satisfaction. And there is *nothing* that indicates there was *any* jealousy. I'll bet you that the vast majority of people never even heard of this sniper till now.

As for why he didn't kill two random people off the street? Why would he?

According to this http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/04/chris-kyle-charity_n_2616090.html he told his sister he sold his soul for a new truck. IOWs he killed to get that truck.

You're looking for something that isn't there. IMHO anyway.

Most service members do see themselves as hero's. Even the majority of the Special Force operators are not wired to believe they are hero's. Most look at it as that we have/had a job to get done and move on to the next challenge.

we had a PTSD patient in the psych clinic, while he was in clinic, the FBI went to his house and took all the weapons he had.psych

I apologize for even brining this up.

It's clearly an emotional issue; I knew it had potential from the start.

But I had hoped, from my initial comments and warnings that the POLITICS should stay out of this.

I was commenting intially on the loss of two men who were involved in projects to help others in need. They were slain be the very person they were trying to help.

This was supposed to be about honoring those who extended help, and were killed by the person they sought to assist. It wasn't about who did what over in the sandbox; it was my intent to honor and respect their actions done here in the States assisting fellow military personnel in need. They died trying to help others. Is that any different than the firefighters that were recently slain up in NY, by the nut-job that shot them as they responded to the house fire? Would anyone view this differently if it were two women killed by a crazed homeless person being served in a soup line?

Some of you really need to grow up. It is not for me to tell you how to think, but I have the responsibility to tell you how to act here on this forum. This is not about censoring any one person's way of thinking; it's about following the rules of this site. We should be able to express general grief and respect for heroic efforts (people helping others in need) without dragging politics into it. I am locking this thread, and apologize to the membership, for those that simply cannot follow our basic rules.
