Maybe, maybe not...you'll never know unless you perform a UOA.

A lot of bitogers are piggybacking off the other
bitogers' oil analysis.

Nothing wrong with that. The former do miss whether their particular engine has problems or smaller coolant leaks but piggybacking is a great resource. Seems like piggybacking is not as good as testing for long drain intervals since if you're wrong, well, you've done several OIC and many miles before you realize it like some of the VW, Audi and Saab models owners.

I run cheaper oils and syns partly to afford to test.

well i just changed the oil today and used havoline 10w30.i was planning on going 4-5k on it.if i get a sample when i change it can i get a good indication on how long i can go with mobil1 from teh results or should i jsut wait until i switch over to get the analysis done.

i used to run mobil1 but for the last 10 or so oil changes ive ran havoline and royal purple.im wanting to switch back to mobil1 and was wondering if i switch back to mobil1 if on the first oil change i need to run a shorter interval.i used to run 10k but with some of the old dyno still in the engine i wasnt sure if it would be ok to go 10k on the first change

I think a short 6000 mile change might be in order before going to 10,000. Should have nothing to clean up but still has some other oil and needs a flush.

well i bit the bullet today and went and got 6 quarts of m1 ep10w30 and 3 pure1 filters.60bucks ouch! im gonna change it in the morning and was wondering if 5k is a good place to start with an oil analysis when i plan to change the filter.is napa a good place to get the analysis done at.right now im having to make 2 long trips a month so im hitting 3k a month

Probably not.

Exxon Mobil Corporation recommend a 2-3K initial OCI of Mobil 1.

I would follow that recommendation, as it's been awhile since your last use of Mobil 1.

Hold off if ya can,I'll be changing out some M1 EP 10w03 out of a vehicle that had nothing but dino and 5k oci's...I put in EP 10W30 and a fram filter and it's over 10k now, coming up on the year so let me get that done this weekend and send out a sample and hopefully have it on next week, maybe???

It's a company vehicle and what better to do a test on than something that isn't yours...It's a 98 S-10 Blazer with a 4.3,65% highway/35% city, lots of idling, extended warm ups when cold, level checked once a month...Typical non-oil obssesive person.....You can gauge off my analysis some,if you can wait a week??

thats cool .ill be watching out for ya in the uoa section

It's gonna be @ 11,8xx or so miles I think, need to check my notes on it,first time I've ever went a whole year on an oci,I feel bad but I wanted to see what this stuff did and how an engine that was abused,by that I mean 1.25 miles to work and 1.25 miles home, virtually no highway miles in 7 years and alot of short trips, would do...I'll pm ya when the uoa goes up,will send it tomorrow as soon as it's changed..
