Had a coil-pack go bad on my Merc. It ran for about 5 minutes with the check engine light flashing at me, until I could get off the freeway. I had my wife bring me my diablo sport tuner to read the code, and it was the #2 cylinder. Quick fix, run to the part store with about 20 mins to change the coil.

My question is with all that fuel being dumped into the crank case, should I do an oil change? Or would a run down the freeway for 30 mins or so fix it?

She'll be just fine. I had a misfire because of a wet coil I drove around with for a whole day. UOA looked A-OK!

I wouldn't worry about it unless you drove like this for weeks. Maybe check the plug and see if its fouled.

Thanks fellas! It was only driven for about 5 minutes or so, until I could get to the next exit off the freeway. I pulled into a gas station and shut it off.

I worry more about the cat`s than the oil. I`m sure they heated up real nice during that time. But I`m sure your okay.

Ya know I was thinking that, but was not quite sure.

My luck I`d have one like that.
