thats what i want to know too.. get the same plug that comes in the ---- thing jeesh.. why play the guessing game?? trips me out..

NGK for just about any application. I have them in two of four vehicles.

Are Iridiums necessary for your application? Other than longevity, is there a good reason to use precious metal plugs?

Depends if it's a DIS application with waste spark, but usually NGK or Denso "OE type" Iridium or Platinum are the best.

NGK's "Iridium IX" product is a good value at $6/plug in many applications but tends to last about 60k or so as it lacks the proper platinum pad for the ground electrode, which is very important for durability in the waste spark, DIS applications.

Watch the Ground Strap Platinum Pads. They seem to get blasted off. In fact Fords, Motorcraft plugs now just plate the ground strap with platinum not weld on a button for durability. My Double Platinum Autolites had severe erosion wear on the ground straps from loosing said platinum welded on tips.

YUCK!!!

Personally never had much of a problem with Champion plugs in any car I have tried them. Not to say they are the best I know for sure that ain't true. NGK I think has that bag sewn up. But they seem to be not too bad. If you have a difficult access car like a Minivan with a V-6 then get better plugs. I'd use them in my Neon but then again thats is what 10 Mins for a plug swap, yeah the whole set.

I installed and use Champion Iridiums in my 2004 Volvo C70 high pressure turbo.

This is a 2.3L 246HP turbocharged vehicle and I have had NO PROBLEMS at all in the last 3000+ miles of putting them in myself.

My two motorcycles and 2004 Supercharged Cobra have NGK Iridiums so I have both brands installed in my vehicles.

Champion has been making Iridium plugs for other applications for a long time. They just recently leveraged that experience recently by making automotive iridium plugs.

For the record I've had no issues with the Champion Iridiums at all, and for that matter the NGK's either.

I haven't had much luck with Champion plugs. As previously stated, misfire codes and poor spark seem to be a problem. I think Champion products went the way of Fram, i.e. they used to make great products but now are just cheap low end products with a big name label.

It all really depends on the engine and what it likes. I know for a fact that Honda engines don't like Bosch or Champion plugs. They start to run poorly and eventually misfire. When a car comes in our shop with misfire codes the first thing I check is the plugs. "Let's see here. Bosch Platinum? Yep, here's your problem."

Seems that a lot of the bargain auto parts stores push Bosch Platinums for everything. Which is great if you have a German car, but not so great for others.

As for Champion, I'd use em in a lawnmower. But not my car.

I went for the NGK's. They are going into my 2004 Corolla. I know it is early but i don't want to wait for 100,000 miles (currently 57,000). When I change the OEM's I will try and post pictures.
