Stopped in my local Auto Zone and found 12 bottles of GC 0W-30. Ben hearing good things so I will try it on the next change. All of the bottles that they had in stock had "Made In Germany" on the back of the bottles. Is all 0w30 made in Germany or is some made in the USA?

From what I've gathered from here, there is some 0w30 made in Germanny, and some is made in the US. The german stuff is better so stick with that.

The older stuff is Made in the USA. Most people believe that it is a completely different oil, inferior to the stuff label made in germany in almost every way. While nobody has proven this yet (an castrol refuses to tell us), there is enough evidence to sway most people.

You'll find that there are still quite a few bottles of the old stuff on store shelves.

This UOA shows that GC/SLX is very much a different oil than the US made version of Syntec 0w-30. Although the US version appears to show good wear numbers compared to the GC, it was only in for a very short interval. More to the point though, notice that the additive package is quite different. I don't need Castrol to tell me they're different.

Tstweart - there are a bunch of threads here that describe the difference between the two, some even with photos of the two. The bottles with yellow highlighting are always older US made stock (they also are usually covered with dust...). GC always has the red secondary color, which you have seen with your own two eyes. Be careful, though, as apparently there is some US stock out there with the red label. I've never seen it myself, though. I work in New Orleans and live in Pensacola (about 200 miles apart) and I've checked almost every Autozone in both places and in between (maybe 20 stores) and seen no red label US stock. Still, I would recommend checking every bottle to be sure.
