My DD Maxima needs new rotors. All 4 rusted bad from sitting in mud for 3 years. I tried sanding off some of the rust, driven with new pads for a few k, but they are still vibrating pretty bad. Time to go.

Wondering if anyone is using Centric C-TEK rotors. Are they any good?

There was a discussion on this a little while back. I think Centric is a lower end of another brand. It go with the ones without slots or cross-drilled holes, unless track days as they typically chew up brake pads.

Have them on the matrix and they are great. Been over a year with mostly outdoor parking and they aren't rusted beyond a surface coating you can wipe off woth your finger. No vibrations and work well. Would recommend for a budget rotor.

Its a standard non-coated rotor.

If worried about rust I would get costed. Rockauto has some brands that have coated at not much more then the uncoated ones.

I had their non-coated ones and thought it was cheap junk.

They are awesome. I have them on my car now, and there are no problems. And the coating does hold up.

yep, and no embarrassment there at all if they measure up right.

Iron is iron, never seen a rotor that didn't rust up a bit if left undriven for a couple of days.

They make the rotors and pads for stoptech. The c-tek will work fine, I haven't seen any iron rotors that don't rust regardless of make/model. Coated ones will only prevent rust where the brake pads don't rub against the rotors if you want your rotor hats to look good.

Definitely worth it for a true coated and not just painted rotor IMO. Drives me nuts on customers cars when theyre nice new clean metal, and those ugly bright orange rust spots show, makes it very visible. Painting is really only temporary, as eventually the rotor heats burns it off and rust starts. You can usually get a rust free year out of the painted ones, which isnt bad, but I usually see the zinc coated ZImmermans on the OE euro cars starting to rust after 3-4 years, so it makes a difference. Bosch/Textar/Meyle HD/Akebono are all out of the same factory with different coatings.

With replacing rotors, the labor to do it (yourself or paid) is so much that I would just get some slightly better ones so that I don't have to do it again so soon.

I live in Salt-Happy Minnesota, Everything rusts up here.

I purchased 2 Durago-Electrophoretic Coated Rotors ($16.xx each compared to $11.xx each for non-coated Durago) Durago Link from RockAuto. When holding the rotor it looks and feels of very high quality. They have been on my Accord for only a few days, but so far they work beautifully. Only time will tell of there longevity. I did read a lot of good comments on the Web of Durago being a Very Good Budget Rotor before I purchased these.

I get extremely annoyed by "Warped Rotors". So I will be closely observing these Durago's for any signs of warping, In 1 month or so I will post back here of the Coated Durago Performance ( I deliver pizza so the miles tack-up quickly)

FYI: I installed New Raybestos Quietstop Pads Raybestos Link along with these Coated Durago's. The Tandom works very well on my Accord. No Noise at all along with a very predictable, smooth stop.

I put them on for all the budget minded owners who ask me to service their vehicles. No problems to date.

Cheaper than buying the base line of pads and rotors from the auto parts stores. Just have to wait to work on vehicles until the parts show up in the mail.

What was your as-built runout? At what amount of runout will you call it bad and replace?

Sure, that will happen with more expensive rotors, except the fins won't turn into a pile of rust, and the mounting surface won't get ruined.
