I purchased this from FiltersandWipers to use but it's kind of rusty so here it is. I got a return credit from them without any hassle. Really like their quick service.

I haven't seen a cut open castrol sfx. If there is one already, I apologize.

There was a bit of spacing with the pleats as they were not uniformed. Louver holes opening nice and fully.

Looks good! Thank you for the cut and post

Too bad the filter is already 4 years old!

Yeah, it is probably the same as the M1-110

I bought a case of six of these CAS7317 filters last year from Service Champ. Cost was $4.67 per filter as part of a larger order, a nice price for an extended drain filter with synthetic blend media made by Champion Laboratories. Conveniently it fits my Honda, Infiniti and Subaru. I'll use the first one next week on the Outback--for the next two 6K mile oil changes.

Thanks for posting.

slacktide: I don't mind using a four year old filter as long as it's in good condition. I agree with you that it does resemble the M1-110

Norman: I was wondering if you could check the dates on a couple of your filters to see how old or new they are. Thanks.

I bought my case of CAS7317's in December 2015 and the date on the filters is 06/30/15. They came wrapped in plastic but not individually boxed.

You're welcome guys.

Norman: Thanks for the quick check, really appreciate it. Seems like your filters were made recently according to the production date and your purchase time then. Let us know how it works, looking forward to your 12K FCI.

While I was picking up my serpentine belt from the mail yesterday. To my surprise, I also received this as a thank you for providing feedback of the purchase. Really like their gesture and service. I have no affiliation to the company, found out about them from here.

The CAS7317 they sent this time is shrink-wrapped made in Nov '15.

Perhaps, but...
I purchased some green Castrol filters a few years ago and have some left. My kid was home from college during the last weekend and his Jeep needed an oil change. I still have a few Castrol CAS16 filters that I purchased a few years ago and I put one on, along with some TropArtic oil.
I'd forgotten just how heavy these filters weigh and how strong the outer shell is. Unlike some other brands, this is one filter that you really have to squeeze hard to get the outer shell to dimple in.
While it's possible these are overstock filters, most quickie-lube shops use the cheapest-built filters available. Just ask WalMart.
