Castrol Edge - U.S.?

The local BMW stealership just advised me they have changed from M1 0W40 after many many years (no XW30 rubbish for BMW in Oz) to Castrol Edge 0w40 for all petrol (gasoline) cars. No explanation why. All the indys still use M1 0W40.

Just saw this stuff at oriley, is it any good? how does it compair to Penzoil Platinum?

I don't, for the life of me, understand what the difference is between this oil, and regular Castrol Syntec 5w30 and 10w30, which are 9.7cst and 10.0cst respectively.

Mind you, I DO like the cold-temp numbers - those are great!!!
